I was up, so I edited in the Day 2 wake up call. Not one of my favorite songs :P Also, the links to the files & transcripts aren't working yet... :( Edge79mi (talk) 09:23, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Welcome!
editHello Thenasaman, welcome to Wikipedia! I notice your interest lies around spaceflight, which is awesome!! You might want to join Wikipedia:WikiProject Space! I'd also like to let you know of a few things that may help you during editing. First, the preview button, which is great for making sure you've got things how you want them to look, and also the 'show changes' button, to be sure you have not accidentally changed or removed vital information, as was done in this edit. A Fox News reference was changed, which made the subsequent references to that named reference return errors in the references section.
Also, please be aware that forum posts are not considered reliable sources, so should not be used to cite a fact in an article. Additionally, it might be a good idea to look over the citation styles, to avoid creating citations that don't make sense to the reader, like these. That was close, though, a great try, but you forgot to use the template language ;) Another thing you may find helpful, is that you do not need to 'double cite' things, as you did here, you can simply use the same reference, by using its name with a backslash, so in that case, the reference name is "<ref name="shuttle page">", which you would simply put immediately after the period, with a backslash inside, like this: <ref name="shuttle page"/>. That will make the reference have the footnote, but not be duplicated. More information on this can be found here for your reference. :) (However, just so you know, in that specific case, the main page of NASA's space shuttle site changes daily, and it isn't archived, so that's not a good page to use for a reference. Instead, I put a news source URL which is stable, and will add the Mission Status Report once it is out.
Anyway, I've been working on the space pages for many years now, so if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask! It is great to see another editor interested in helping keep them up to date! :) Ariel♥Gold 22:34, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
- Now now, no mistakes are 'stupid', in fact, for a brand new editor (unless you edited anonymously previous to registration), you have gotten the hang of it really quickly! The templates can be confusing, for sure, so that's nothing to be worried about. I actually use an awesome little stand-alone program that will create the reference 100%, all you do is fill in the fields like article title, publisher, author, URL, name, etc. It is called WikiCite, you might want to look into it, it really is very easy to use and so easy to make the references that way! Holler if you have anything you wonder about, or need help with anything! Cheers, Ariel♥Gold 23:58, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
Spaceflight portals
editHello! As an member editor of one or more of the Spaceflight, Human spaceflight, Unmanned spaceflight, Timeline of spaceflight or Space colonisation WikiProjects, I'd like to draw to your attention a proposal I have made with regards to the future of the spaceflight-related portals, which can be found at Portal talk:Spaceflight#Portal merge. I'd very much appreciate any suggestions or feedback you'd be able to offer! Many thanks,

WikiProject Spaceflight activity
editHello there! As part of an effort to determine how many active editors are present in the spaceflight-related WikiProjects, changes have been made to the list of members of WikiProject Spaceflight. If you still consider yourself to be an active editor in this project, it would be appreciated if you would please edit the list so that your name is not struck out - thus a clearer idea of the number of active editors can be determined. Many thanks in advance!

WikiProject Spaceflight reboot
editHello there! As you may or may not be aware, a recent discussion on the future of the Space-related WikiProjects has concluded, leading to the abolition of WP:SPACE and leading to a major reorganisation of WP:SPACEFLIGHT. It would be much appreciated if you would like to participate in the various ongoing discussions at the reorganisation page and the WikiProject Spaceflight talk page. If you are a member of one of WP:SPACEFLIGHT's child projects but not WP:SPACEFLIGHT itself, it would also be very useful if you could please add your name to the member list here. Many thanks!
