Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Jewisharted", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. If you believe that your username is appropriate for Wikipedia, please remove this message and leave a note on the notifier's talk page. Could you be more specific on the reason for the violation? Thank you.
I was just wondering, because the only contributions you made to article space are to Jewish Art Education, which you created. It may be a conflict of interest. No offense intended. Epicgenius(talk to mesee my contributions) 18:15, 6 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

I will be conscious of the COI rules and will not promote our organization. Most of our comments will be on the Talk Page.

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. If you intend to edit constructively in other topic areas, you may be granted the right to continue under a change of username. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you will probably not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
    • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
    • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 18:33, 6 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I was led to believe that the page I created was within the guidelines of wikipedia: http://nonprofitorgs.wordpress.com/2010/06/07/how-to-update-your-nonprofits-wikipedia-page-and-why-you-should

Decline reason:

If you came to Wikipedia in good faith, believing that the page you link to was in line with Wikipedia policy, only to unexpectedly find yourself blocked, then I have every sympathy with you. However, the page in question is not in line with Wikipedia policy. Your only purpose in editing Wikipedia appears to be to use Wikipedia to promote your organisation, and nothing you have said suggests that you have any other kind of editing in mind. As you will realise if you have read the message above, that means that you will not be unblocked. The fact that someone has published something on some web site which misleads people about Wikipedia's polices does not in any way diminish the force of those policies. Now you see why we don't regard wordpress pages as being reliable sources... Peridon (talk) 20:33, 6 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
The link you quote is not a part of Wikipedia, is not sanctioned by Wikipedia, and is in several aspects wrong.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 20:38, 6 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Fair enough. I'm going to post something on the site. It's very bad information. I was under the impression that there was some leeway for nonprofits. Thanks.

If there's any notability to your organisation, then I would gladly help you write the article. Epicgenius(talk to mesee my contributions) 23:30, 6 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Charity, non-profit, one man and his dog, multi-national, they are all governed by the same requirement for notability and no promotion. Even online herbal 'Viagra' sellers - but I don't think we've found a notable one of them yet. Request a name change (promising not to advertise), and talk with Epicgenius about notability. We do try to help newcomers - but if you saw some of the stuff we get, you'd understand. I deleted one article about a company that was so full of promo buzzwords that I never even found out what the company did! Do remember another thing - Wikipedia is not like Facebook. There, only you can change the main data. Here, anyone can edit (so long as they've got internet and aren't blocked or banned). You sound willing to learn how to do it right. Good. You might get into doing more editing in other areas. (Even better...) Peridon (talk) 09:16, 7 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

I would like to change my User name. I understand the rules. I would like to change the User name to Thenonprophet. I would comment on topics affecting nonprofits, Jewish life and history and financial services. I have extensive experience in all of these areas.

Use the unblock-spamun template from the blockinbg notice, and put your new name in. Then click on 'preview', and chick the 'Check availability' thing. I like the name, and it may be available. There isn't a talk page under that name anyway. BTW please sign talk page posts with four ~ things. That puts up a nice neat sig and date stamp, like this: Peridon (talk) 20:48, 8 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
