March GOCE copyedit drive
Notes from the Guild of Copy Editors
The March 2014 backlog elimination drive is a month-long effort to reduce the backlog of articles in need of copyediting. The drive begins on March 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and ends on March 31 at 23:59 (UTC). Our goals are to copyedit all articles tagged in December 2012 and January 2013 and to complete all requests placed in January 2014. Barnstars will be awarded to anyone who copyedits at least one article, and special awards will be given to the top five in the following categories: number of articles, number of words, number of articles over 5,000 words, number of articles tagged in December 2012 and January 2013 and the longest article. We hope to see you there! – Your drive coordinators: Jonesey95, Baffle gab1978 and Miniapolis To discontinue receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list.

Rotten Tomatoes bot failure
Just a heads up that The Grand Budapest Hotel#Reception is asking me to inform you that your bot failed to retrieve the relevant information for it. So far as I can see the template it's using is correct. --McGeddon (talk) 11:53, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
- McGeddon, thanks for the message. Sadly, the Rotten Tomatoes API doesn't always match IMDB ids to films. I've contact their support team about this, but their response was essentially "good luck". I can only recommend trying again in a few weeks; their database tends to update at about that frequency. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but it's out of my control. Thanks, Theopolisme (talk) 17:18, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
- Theopolisme, how often does the bot attempt to retrieve the info? Does it give up after a certain amount of time if it keeps failing? I can adjust the template so that it only says to contact you if it has been over a week (or two) and place a more appropriate message in the mean time. Thoughts? — {{U|Technical 13}} (t • e • c) 17:32, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure it tries every run, actually. Pestering Rotten Tomatoes support is the most reliable way to get the IMDB id properly linked, honestly... Theopolisme (talk) 21:53, 14 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi! About the Bot
I'm not a very hard working editor and more interested in content than process. I'm afraid I didn't really understand what your bot was asking me to do. I'm happy to make simple changes, but this kind of clever stuff is a bit over my head: could you or someone else do it manually for me please? Notification of automated file description generation
Your upload of File:Carers speakers outside the Scottish Parliament.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page. This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 15:27, 13 March 2014 (UTC) Another one of your uploads, File:Carers at Scottish Parliament.jpg, has also had some information automatically added. If you get a moment, please review the bot's contributions there as well. Thanks! Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 15:31, 13 March 2014 (UTC) Thanks! We need your help testing latest huggle
Hello,
I am sending you this message because you listed yourself on meta:Huggle/Members as a beta tester. We desperately need attention of testers, because since we resolved all release blockers, we are ready to release first official version of huggle 3! Before that happens, it would be nice if you could test it so that we can make sure there are no issues with it. You can download it packaged for your operating system (see Wikipedia:Huggle/Huggle3_Beta) or you can of course build it yourself, see https://github.com/huggle/huggle3-qt-lx for that. Don't forget to use always latest version, there is no auto-update message for beta versions!
Should you find any issue, please report it to wikimedia bugzilla, that is a central place for huggle bugs, where we look at them. That is i mportant, if you find a bug and won't report it, we can't fix it. Thank you for your work on this, if you have any questions, please send me a message on my talk page, I won't be looking for responses here. Thanks, Petrb (talk) 15:17, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Theo's wee bot
Hi Theopolisme. I notice that your bot has not run since mid-March, and I am getting concerned about the potentially large number of oversize files that need reducing. I wonder if you could check it out. -- Diannaa (talk) 03:23, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
- @Diannaa: Wow -- thank you so much for spotting this! Apparently the Wikimedia Labs servers which the bot runs on were changed by the ops team, and in the process of changing them, all existing scheduled programs were disabled. I've reenabled them, and things should get back to normal over the next few days. Again, thank you for spotting this! Theopolisme (talk) 04:23, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

- @117Avenue: It looks like there has been some lag on the Wikimedia Labs servers which the bots runs on, which is outside of my control. The bot should stop being so confused once that's resolved (if the issue is still present in a few days/week -- i.e., you revert and then the bot readds -- please let me know and I'll take a more detailed look). AFCH
@Theopolisme: You may or may not remember me from a while ago, but I am returning to Wikipedia. I was using the AFCH in Preferences until (@Josve05a:) introduced your AFCH to me! Ironically, I was thinking of improving the script yesterday, as I was reviewing about/over a hundred AfC articles, but when I encountered your AFCH, it was perfect; once again, thank you! I would like to catch up with you after not seeing you for a long time! If you don't mind, use the ping template in case I miss your reply. --JustBerry (talk) 20:57, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
- @JustBerry: Hi! Great to hear from you, and welcome back to Wikipedia. I'm glad you were able to stumble upon the rewrite. :) Please let me know if you encounter any issues or have any suggestions by posting at WT:AFCHRW, and I hope to interact with you more in the future! Theopolisme (talk) 21:02, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
- Well, I have a very picky suggestion (this applies to the AFCH in the Preferences menu as well). After clicking on Decline, I have to scroll down to click "Decline Submission" after choosing the criteria. That's my one, main suggestion - it will speed up reviewing a lot more. Thanks --JustBerry (talk) 21:06, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
- Also, what was your IRC network address again? Want me to come on again? What's the channel name? --JustBerry (talk) 21:10, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

Wow! What a lot of work this is for you creating this new AFCH script! Both your programming skills and your great communication and response to suggestions on the script development talk page are appreciated. —Anne Delong (talk) 16:09, 21 May 2014 (UTC) |
- Thanks very much, Anne. :) I'm just doing my part, contributing how I believe I can best help the fantastic project that is Wikipedia...to be recognized for doing what I believe in is always a nice pat on the back, though! Theopolisme (talk) 20:51, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

IRC Bot
Hello fellow Theo,
I'm trying to make an IRC bot from scratch. I'm wondering if you would like to help me debug a few errors the code has/may have. It is written in Python. We could work on your IRC server (if you still have it) if you wish, in which case you will need to remind you what the address was. I really do miss the good old days of being on your server! If you are busy, oh well, I guess we can collaborate some other time. And... once again, your AFCH is really nice! --JustBerry (talk) 22:50, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hi! My channel is
##Theopolisme
on Freenode. I'm typically on the go and don't bother launching my client just to have to exit twenty minutes later, but I'll try to be online more often so we can chat. Theopolisme (talk) 23:26, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
Theo's Little Bot getting waylayed by redirects
Hi. Your bot has "notified" User talk:Giano II about having had information automatically added to one of his uploads 19 times since 12 April 2013, and now again today, in defiance of the fact that the page has been a redirect to User talk:Giano since 23 August 2012. Today was the first time it turned up on my watchlist and made me go look and find a whole host of notifications. A regular person who tries to to go to a redirected usertalk page will automatically arrive at the target page itself, but it seems a bot doesn't, at least not this one. I don't know enough about how bots function to understand why that is, but if Theo's little bot can be taught to recognize redirects and use them as stepping stones to the target page instead of posting on them, that would be great. Giano obviously hasn't been receiving the information intended for him. Regards, bishzilla ROARR!! 03:09, 22 May 2014 (UTC).
- I'll take a look. Haven't touched this code for a year or more now so it's not especially familiar, but I'll see what I can do. Theopolisme (talk) 23:26, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
- @Bishzilla: Fixed now, and should be reflected in the bot's edits after today. Thanks for pointing this out! Theopolisme (talk) 23:36, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the invite. I'd be glad to help. Should I disable the current script before? FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 22:58, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
- @FoCuSandLeArN: You can use both scripts at the same time; the new script's launch link is "Review (AFCH)", as opposed to just "Review" (or "Review (old)" in some cases) for the original script. Thank you in advance! Theopolisme (talk) 23:12, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

@FoCuSandLeArN and Technical 13: I've moved this thread to WT:AFCHRW to avoid fragmented discussions. Will reply there. Thanks! Theopolisme (talk) 22:29, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
