Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Alstamatis. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your circle, your organization, its competitors, projects or products;
  • instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you.  —SMALLJIM  15:47, 13 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

  Hello, I'm JurassicClassic767. I noticed that you recently removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. I removed false allegations. Please let me do so Alstamatis (talk) 20:12, 6 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

  Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates, or other materials from Wikipedia without adequate explanation, you may be blocked from editing. JurassicClassic767 (talk | contribs) 20:44, 6 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

How can someone be protected by others posting false allegations for him? Please advise. There must be a way. Otherwise anyone who has a reason to undermine an individual will be free to do so, unchecked.Thank you Alstamatis (talk) 22:16, 6 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Alstamatis, given the apparent conflict of interest, you can request edits on the talk page at Talk:Alexis Stamatis, explaining in detail what changing would you like to make and adding the {{request edit}} template. Best, MarioGom (talk) 10:44, 7 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Addressed to @MarioGom @JurassicClassic767

Dear friends, thank you very mich for your time. I am sending the proof that the allegations were false, completed with links. Please remove the plagiarism allegations from the page. Please inform me. Best regards

ALREADY EXISTED PLAGIARISM ALLEGATION In 2008, Stamatis was accused by literary critic and author Kostas Katsoularis of "copying and pasting" several passages in his book Villa Combray from the novel Elizabeth Costello of the South African-born Nobel Laureate J. M. Coetzee.[citation needed] Stamatis defended his choices as being part of the standard "intertextual references" and "creative discourse".[3]

PROOF THAT THE ALLEGATION IS FLASE COMPLETED WITH LINKS

However, a word count was conducted, and the conclusion was that only 41 words from Elizabeth Costello were used to stress out the intertextuality of Coetzee himself. These words were in turn Coetzee’s reference to James Joyce’s famous character Molly Bloom in connection with an equally famous quote by Montaigne. Stamatis’ Villa Combray contains 80.000 words. Therefore, the word count was considered quite low as a percentage. This fact is rather evident, and one can prove it by reading the book. https://www.politeianet.gr/books/9789600346145-stamatis-alexis-kastaniotis-bila-kompre-201485 Moreover, the book received outstanding reviews from the majority of the literary critics, who praised intertextuality as the book’s main virtue and the pertinent use of intertextual references, and its successful integration in the narrative. To quote a few critics: “Intertextuality that subtly undermines the realistic circumstance, from Dickens to Proust, and also the exotic tradition and convention…” Titika Dimitroulia, Kathimerini, 10.08.08 https://www.dimitroulia.gr/teleia_pseydaisthisi_toy_pragmatikoy_pezografos_alexis_stamatis_xtizei-article-453.html?category_id=65 “A trip to Africa, to the depths of the Cameroon Jungle, where the realistic fiction, suddenly enters a magic realm echoing back to the atmosphere of House of Darkness by Joseph Conrad”. Vaggelis Hatzivasileiou, 8.06.08

Finally, the book Villa Combray, was nominated for one of the most eminent book prizes established by “Diavazo” in 2008. A member of the committee was the literary critic and author Kostas Katsoularis himself, who in his honor after all this public debate, did not object to the book being nominated. https://www.athensvoice.gr/culture/book/38433_kryfakoygontas-tin-kritiki-epitropi — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alstamatis (talk • contribs) 16:14, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

Deleting Eva Simatou

edit

I saw that you added a WP:PROD tag to the Eva Simatou page. Given that the page isn't well referenced, this may work, and the page may be deleted after seven days. I suspect that this user (you!) may be Eva Simatou, or might be related to her. If the page isn't deleted, and if you do wish for it to be deleted, I'd recommend e-mailing info-en-q@wikimedia.org to request the article be deleted. You'll probably be requested to provide some proof of identity, and there will be a deletion discussion, but requests are usually granted, unless the subject is particularly famous. pburka (talk) 22:23, 20 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Behavior at Eva Simatou

edit

I am enquiring about your behaviour at Eva Simatou's article. You have blanked the article [1] and, when reverted, have removed references [2] and have nominated it for a WP:PROD [3].

According to your page history, your former username is "Alstamatis" and it is pretty clear that you are in fact Alexis Stamatis (see the activity at current version of the talk page [4] and WP:COIN discussion [5]). According to Alexis Stamatis § Biography, you are married to Eva Simatou.

I am therefore wondering whether you are deliberately vandalising Eva Simatou's page as some sort of retaliation. Please note that if this is the case, this is a serious form of misconduct that will lead to administrative action. --JBchrch (talk) 14:33, 27 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Detailed answer to your inquiries about the Eva Simatou article

edit

(talk) JBchrch (talk)

Dear JBurch, (talk) Thank you very much for your note. I am indeed the husband of Eva Simatou. We are happily married and have a lovely son, Hermes, 2 years old!!! Mz. Eva Simatou believes that this article contains personal data that she is adamant about not publicising. Please respect her wishes and remove it from Wikipedia. Being a writer and a columnist at the leading Greek newspaper TO VIMA and having written many articles concerning behavior in the net, I can understand your main concern. So, for verification of the above please contact Eva Simatou directly evasimatou@yahoo.gr or 0030 6937367302. Here are also some useful links that I believe prove that we are in a happy marriage.
