Howdy
editHowdy — hope you're having a good Thursday. I just wanted to drop off a quick note to welcome you to Wikipedia, and to thank you for creating an account and for your recent contributions to the project.
If you haven't checked them out yet, you might want to check out some of the things your new account lets you do, such as customization (more) and your watchlist (more).
There are a few things you probably want to keep in mind as you traverse Wikipedia:
- Please write with a neutral point of view. This is perhaps the most important tenet of Wikipedia — write neutrally, and don't interject your opinion into articles.
- Please assume that people's actions are well-meant, unless they've given you ample cause to believe otherwise. On Wikipedia, this is referred to as "assuming good faith."
- If you get into disagreements with others, please try to work it out civilly and without personal attacks. If worse comes to worse, Wikipedia has methods for resolving disagreements, but it is best if the parties can work out by themselves ... and it reflects best on you, too.
- Please respect others' copyrights — that means it's not kosher to just cut and paste from webpages.
- If you need somewhere to goof around with things, try the Sandbox — please don't edit articles just to test them. But when you feel ready to, you don't need to hesitantly ask permission — if you think you've got a solid contribution to make, we encourage you to be bold.
- Please sign any message you leave on a talk page (not your contributions to an article, but any personal messages you might leave on an article's talk page or a person's talk page) with four tildes. This will sign your name. Four tildes look like this: ~~~~
More rules of the road can be found here, and a full list of policies can be found here.
If you'd like to learn more about Wikipedia, there are a few good places to start. Check out the welcome to newcomers, the introduction, and the tutorial.
If I can be of any help, please feel free to drop a line on my talk page by clicking below (if you do so, though, be sure to add my talk page to your brand-new watchlist to make it easier for you to check back there for my response). But since I'm not always available, you may get a quicker response by typing {{helpme}} on this page, and an experienced Wikipedian will shortly come around to answer any questions you may have.
Thanks ... and again, welcome! — Mike
Vanity articles
editHi, this is just to let you know that I've recommended your article Hacker Red Dragon for deletion. If you want to write about yourself, please put it in your user page instead. I've also undone your edits to Hacker Emblem for the same reason. -- Sakurambo 桜ん坊 08:40, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
