Btw, I saw your comment about obituaries for women, and agree whole-heartedly with you - but sadly also with Gamaliel's reply. You might like to look in at Wikipedia:Countering systemic bias for a project which tries to tackle this.
An immediate practical action, however, would be for you to monitor The Guardian' Other Lives obituaries, and list (and make Wikipedia articles for) people who strike you as worth it.
