Call to Arts Festival
editThomas, I'm sorry, but here is the problem with that award: what is that festival? A Google search reveals nothing of substance, and a Google News search has nothing at all. The link you provided, to the Evansville library site, that same information is found on a number of other sites (verbatim), which leads me to believe that this is user-submitted somewhere along the line, possibly from a Wikipedia mirror site--that link cannot count as a reference to a reliable source. At the very least it suggests that the festival, and thus the award, are not notable. The way to go is to look for your artist in Google News or Google Books and looking carefully to see if it is indeed something published independently from the subject. Good luck. Just another piece of information
editI have also noticed that the text you inserted into the article is a copy from this website page. Wikipedia is not a place to copy and paste information (this may be considered as advertising, which is forbidden). Furthermore, the article needs third party references, of which there are none. Please do not be discouraged by this, and also by the fact that the article is being considered for deletion. There are plenty of other ways in which you can contribute to Wikipedia. Just see the Getting Started pages I mentioned earlier. Beeshoney (talk) 20:36, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
Your post at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Music
editI read your post at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Music and want to let you know that if the article is deleted you can ask an admin, such as myself to move the page to your userspace, where you will be able to work on the article at your leisure then resubmit it after all of the issues brought up at the deletion discussion are addressed. So, no need to panic, there is often life after deletion. J04n(talk page) 19:09, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- I really appreciate for your response. It has been a frustrating week. It seems some of the editors take the discussion personally. They try to destroy the article no matter what. Anyway, thank you again for your advise and comment on the board. Thomasshane (talk) 19:52, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- Not a problem, when things get tense the best thing to do is to step back and remain calm. Getting emotional never helps an argument. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with. J04n(talk page) 23:22, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
Thank you so much again. I added some examples of his compositions to the article. With the new sources provided, and the new edits by the other editors, would you mind removing the top boxes (except the deletion box) from the article? Thank you. Thomasshane (talk) 00:05, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- Let's wait for the deletion discussion to end, when contentious like this it is best not to make any edits that could appear controversial. The closing admin will weigh the arguments and see the changes made to the article. The tags up top won't be an influencing factor, particularly because they were added before the article was improved. J04n(talk page) 00:27, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- OK, thank you so much! Let's wait. Thomasshane (talk) 00:40, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- I try not to link to YouTube because many of the videos are copyright infringements, see WP:ELNEVER. The iTunes one shows that the recording exists but does not confer notability. You can leave the iTune but unless you can verify the copyright status of the YouTube videos I would remove them. J04n(talk page) 01:50, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- OK, thank you so much! Let's wait. Thomasshane (talk) 00:40, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks, I will remove the YouTube links. One of the editors asked only for some examples. These are some examples of the artist's works not conforming notability. Thank again,Thomasshane (talk) 02:26, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- I'd like to recommend that you register and put in some solid work in the field of Iranian music and art, lest your efforts continue to appear single-interest - in which case, unless subject's notability continues to rise, eventual deletion is inevitable. At the moment I am personally satisified that the article contributes notably to an area that is under-documented and under-developed. Please ignore assertions that reliable sources must be online but seek out such reliable sources and do whatsoever you can to render them available, preferably in English. Such sources do exist. When good-quality general work is not easily available there is insufficient background to evaluate articles on living musicians. Redheylin (talk) 13:34, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for your advice. I will do. I am a musician and am interested in working on the related subjects. I would like to thank you again. Your understanding of this field was what the discussion was missing. Thank you again, Thomasshane (talk) 16:30, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
- Please see this section as you asked me about procedures - I am not asking you to join the discussion but to review it for your understanding of how wikipedia works. Please register and contribute your enthusiasm and knowledge to Iranian music, which I'll be always ready to help. Redheylin (talk) 00:14, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for the note. I would like to contribute to music articles. Where should I register? Thanks again, Thomasshane (talk) 06:11, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- It's been a long time but - I think if you try to "log in" at the top of the page you'll be invited to register (Create Account). Your email address will be used to verify the name-IP link. If you have any trouble at all, please leave me a message. Redheylin (talk) 14:47, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
Now I'll ask you for help...
editHi, now that you have a taste for what it takes to keep an article alive I would like to point you to a project that I am working with. There are currently over 26,000 biographies of living people with no references. Of these 2,700 are musicians and 125 are Iranians. Perhaps you can help finding and adding references? We need all the help we can get and you seem to have an interest and some knowledge in these areas. If you have any questions let me know. Thanks, J04n(talk page) 12:29, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, Thank you for the note. It was an interesting experience for me. I did not except it to be that intense. I am a musician and am interested in working on the related area. I will start going through the other biographies and edit them. thank you again, Thomasshane (talk) 16:16, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
Hello again
editI've proposed the deletion of a lot of articles because they have no references. Simple as. Feel free to improve them if you wish. Beeshoney (talk) 21:15, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
- Beeshoney, this is a totally unreasonable request. -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 22:52, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
- Beeshoney, please do not tag Iran related articles for speedy delete. It is impossible to add references to tens of articles in a week. I thought we finished the AfD discussion in a good spirit. What you are requesting is not feasible or acceptable. Thomasshane (talk) 00:42, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
