editIf you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article The Hunger Project, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
- editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
- participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
- linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
- and you must always:
- avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Business' FAQ. For more details about what constitutes a conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Conflict of Interest. Thank you. BoL (Talk) 03:17, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Request for unblock
editThpcomm (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
Although I have not used my personal name in my username, I am an actual person that works in the communications department of The Hunger Project and this is not a role account. I am the only person making edits with this username. Because one of the pages I am editing is The Hunger Project, where I work, I wanted to be transparent and open and inform other users of who I was so that they would know that when reviewing my edits to ensure NPOV.
Decline reason:
While that does sound like a perfectly reasonable explanation, I do have to consider the fact that your username, as it currently stands, violates our username policy, since it could be interpreted as promotional, especially considering your edit history. Rather than unblock this account, I'd recommend that you create a new username that does not refer to your company. I'll tweak your block in a moment to allow you to do so. Note that I am doing this on good faith - in doing this, I expect you to adhere to our guideline on conflicts of interest, so I would strongly discourage you from editing The Hunger Project. If, under the new account, you continue to make edits to that page and they appear to be promotional in nature, your new account may be blocked as well. Should you continue to edit that article, please declare your relation to the company on the talk page as you did with this account. Your edits so far do appear to be mostly beneficial, which is the only reason I'm considering this. — Hersfold (t/a/c) 23:35, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
