Thabethe (People)

Thabethe is a clan that formed a tribe with other clans that were considered family members such as: Gema, Mangethe, Dlamini, Ngubane, Sosibo, Shezi and Manzini

The Thabethe clan were the leaders of a Tribe of peace and are a South African Clan that is from what is known as modern day Durban (Ethekwini taken from the clan Mtheku) and they are credited for bringing copper to South Africa. These Teaching are passed down from generation to generation verbally through their clan praises. They are contested leaders of the nguni people, with Ngubane holding the South African chair and Dlamini holding the Swaziland chair. They have made some noticable contributions to society with their donation to the Christian faith mission of Adams mission.

Pre world war 1

The Thabethe clan were known as the local Medicine with teaching being passed down from father to son. Shezi a tribe and family member travelled to modern day Iraq and found copper aided by the wealth and influence of the tribe. This copper was surrendered to Conqueror Thabethe which gave Thabethe the praise Mthondo wethusi. Directly translated as the lover of copper. World scholars state that this copper discovery led to the bronze age. This made the clan very wealthy and powerful.
