Replaceable fair use File:Buddy on the set.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Buddy on the set.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 12:50, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for August 17
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Queho, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Indian, Posse and Helldorado (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Your recent edits
editHello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Your edits at Shooting of Michael Brown
editHi, I noticed that you've made a large number of edits to the Shooting of Michael Brown article today. Many of these edits include embedded citations placed in the body of the article, contrary to Wikipedia's manual of style. Please keep in mind that embedded links should never be used to place external links in the body of an article. If you want to cite a reference, you can use an inline citation, usually in the form of a footnote. Please adhere to the manual of style when adding references. Thanks! Dyrnych (talk) 05:08, 30 August 2014 (UTC)
- For example, you edited the following sentence "Initially, the Ferguson City Police Department declined to release Wilson's identity and stated that he had been placed on administrative leave.<ref name=CNN.Threats/>" inserting "[http://time.com/3104128/michael-brown-ferguson-cop-shooting-protests/]" after Police Department. According to our style manual, it would be better if you enclosed your reference in matching <ref> and </ref> tags, usually at the end of a sentence. Like this:
- Initially, the Ferguson City Police Department declined to release Wilson's identity and stated that he had been placed on administrative leave.<ref name=CNN.Threats/><ref>[http://time.com/3104128/michael-brown-ferguson-cop-shooting-protests/]</ref>
- This would have resulted in this: "Initially, the Ferguson City Police Department declined to release Wilson's identity and stated that he had been placed on administrative leave.[44][45]" with your Time magazine citation in the combined References section near the bottom of the article.
- An even better way to supply citations is to use one of our citation templates, like cite web. With this, you won't get a "bald citation" with only the http address in the References section but instead a citation with a title, author(s), publication, etc. For example, you could modify your citation so that it looks something like this:
- Initially, the Ferguson City Police Department declined to release Wilson's identity and stated that he had been placed on administrative leave.<ref name=CNN.Threats/><ref name=TimeMag.Tangled>{{cite web |url=http://time.com/3104128/michael-brown-ferguson-cop-shooting-protests/ |title=The Long, Tangled Roots of the Michael Brown Shooting |last=Von Drehle |first=David |date=August 12, 2014 |publisher=Time Inc. |accessdate=August 30, 2014}}</ref>
- If you have any questions, please contact me on my talk page. Good luck. --RoyGoldsmith (talk) 19:41, 31 August 2014 (UTC)
