editHello, I'm John from Idegon. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to the page Red Lodge, Montana, because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. - If you add something and someone else removes it with an explanation, you do not just put it back. You start a discussion on the article's talk page and come to a consensus about it and then what ever that consensus is is re-added. In this case, it is a policy and guideline issue. Consensus has already been reached to cover all US settlement articles. We add the city's website, the chamber's website and if there is a public tourism authority seperate from the chamber, possibly their site. The site you added is obviously more in the catagory of a "booking" website, that is a site designed to facilitate the sale of lodging. We do not do advertising on Wikipedia. I am re-reverting it. If you wish to discuss it on the article's talk page, go for it. It won't go far. John from Idegon (talk) 05:41, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
- And adding external links in the body of the article is never appropriate. See WP:ELNO. I would caution you to cease this editing pattern. I am going to assume good faith here, but at some point that will evaporate. Wikipedia is not for the promotion of anything. John from Idegon (talk) 05:46, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
