References
Yes, I know reflist in talk page is not a common practice. But, is it against Wikipedia's rule? It is needed here.
How references work
Simple references
These require two parts;
- a)
Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref> He likes tea. <ref> [http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com Tea website] </ref>
- b) A section called "References" with the special code "{{reflist}}";
== References == {{reflist}}
(an existing article is likely to already have one of these sections)
To see the result of that, please look at user:chzz/demo/simpleref. Edit it, and check the code; perhaps make a test page of your own, such as user:Titodutta/reftest and try it out.
Named references
Chzz was born in 1837. <ref name=MyBook> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref> Chzz lives in Footown.<ref name=MyBook/>
Note that the second usage has a / (and no closing ref tag). This needs a reference section as above; please see user:chzz/demo/namedref to see the result.
Citation templates
You can put anything you like between <ref> and </ref>, but using citation templates makes for a neat, consistent look;
Chzz has 37 Olympic medals. <ref> {{Citation | last = Smith | first = John | title = Olympic medal winners of the 20th century | publication-date = 2001 | publisher = [[Cambridge University Press]] | page = 125 | isbn = 0-521-37169-4 }} </ref>
Please see user:chzz/demo/citeref to see the result.
For more help and tips on that subject, see user:chzz/help/refs.
Barnstar
Thanks for the barnstar!
I think what they meant was that for it to be added to be "common/frequently used" barnstar list, it needs consensus, but anyone can create his or her own barnstar for a particular purpose
Disambiguation link notification
Hi. When you recently edited Google Help Forums, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Blogger (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

- Ah, yes, you are correct, dear bot, it is wrong. Since we often use the term Blogger for Google's Blog service, I did not think of checking the page. I have corrected it. --Tito Dutta (Send me a message) 10:55, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
Article requests
Hi, Tito! On the Bengali Wikipedia, do you do article requests? There are some subjects that I would like to see started in Bengali that I listed at bn:আলাপ:প্রধান_পাতা#Article_requests - So if you are interested, please take a look! Thanks WhisperToMe (talk) 11:25, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
- In Bengali Wikipedia I do not do article requests (or are you asking if I participate in Bengali Wiki? No, I don't edit articles there).
I am not very sure if they translate En articles manually (I mean word by word) or by any translator. I have tried to translate one of your article using Google Translator of English>>Bengali (which is in alpha stage).. but, the translation see here was not very helpful. I have seen user Naveenpf has told you: If you want the bot to do the job please sign up at [1] I am not very sure what does he mean by bot job. Do you know? --Tito Dutta (Send me a message) 11:47, 27 February 2012 (UTC)- I'm not sure what he means, but I'll take a look at the page. Anyway, even if you do not edit the Bengali Wikipedia, thank you for your help! WhisperToMe (talk) 11:57, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
- If no one else responds there, please fell free to alert me again, If you really need, I'll try to create at least one of your three articles in Bengali Wikipedia. I have already checked three articles, I think I'll be comfortable to translate this Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport article. Let me know if you need.
- If they use any translator or bot (as Naveenpf has mentioned), the work will be easier, I think!
- Also let me know if you think I can contribute anywhere else (preferably in Wikipedia English) --Tito Dutta (Send me a message) 12:11, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
- I took a look at meta:WikiConference_India_2011/Wiki_Outreach#Misc - It seems to be a bot for adding welcome templates - It doesn't seem to be a translation bot. If you want to make a short stub on Detroit Airport in Bengali, that would be nice :) - The Detroit area has a Bengal origin population WhisperToMe (talk) 13:52, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you very much, Tito! WhisperToMe (talk) 21:15, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

Hindustani classical music external links
Hello Mr. Dutta,
Sorry for delayed response. So, is there a verdict? What has been decided about my links? Can I add a few more links in appropriate places? I especially think my pages "tones," "notations," "embellishment" and "performance" are vital for any understanding of hindustani classical music and should be added to Wikipedia. Please let me know. Map
Unfortunately I do not know how to use that kind of map. I think you should ask User:Jayantanth, he created that Dharmatala map. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 19:38, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi Tito! Thanks for your message. I wish I could help with the Bengali language and spelling, but I'm afraid I'm only able to read and write English. Google however, returns loads of results for both spellings, but "Loknath" seems to be much more commonly used. I'm not sure if that really helps address the issue at hand, but at the moment, it's the best thing I can come up with. :) -- WikHead (talk) 08:42, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

- Sorry for delays in replying, I was online but busy with creating/suggesting a barnstar. Your post was helpful. It is really an honor to meet you. --Tito Dutta (Send me a message) 09:26, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

I think Lokenath, with an e, is the commonly used spelling, and we should keep that. Baba was unnecessary. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:25, 29 February 2012 (UTC)
Indic scripts & IPA
A month or so ago the discussion took place regarding indic scripts. It is archieved here and is further clarified over here. Please go through these and then remove the indic scripts from Ritwik Ghatak. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 12:30, 1 March 2012 (UTC)
- I have removed it and written a longer answer in your talk page. --Tito Dutta (Send me a message) 15:06, 1 March 2012 (UTC)
- Well... i agree partly with it. I was opposing removal from geographical locations. But for other articles these indic scripts do create disputes and mess also. Read that on some page some irrelevant indic scripts were put and assuming good faith no one ever checked it. But now i will keep posting the reason in edit summary. I was under impression that it was quite a noisy issue and was well known to all by now. And for the template {{lang-hi|xxxxx}}... do people use them? I would have gone with (Hindi: xxxxx) directly. Gives same result anyways. I dont think they should be deleted. They might be in use somewhere. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 17:37, 1 March 2012 (UTC)
- I am not very sure about {{lang-hi|xxxxx}} but {{lang-bn|xxxxxx}} is a very common practice. --Tito Dutta (Send me a message) 18:44, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

- That's a good point. Yesterday I was trying to to find some external option, finally could not find. What I tried to do. Subscribing RSS Feed>>Google Reader>> Setting Some Filter for User:Titodutta pages only>> When changed send email. The first three are possible in Google Reader, but they don't email content by email. I don't know if any site similar to Google Reader has this option! --Tito Dutta (Send me a message) 06:11, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
