Speedy deletion nomination of Claire Boonstra
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Claire Boonstra, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. reddogsix (talk) 04:37, 30 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi. Please keep in mind that articles on Wikipedia should be written from a neutral point of view. For example, you wrote
She is a mother, an engineer, an entrepreneur, but most of all, she is a leading innovator in world of technology
This sort of writing is highly promotional - it's too excited for an encyclopedia article. Instead, you should strive for something more like
Claire Boonstra is a Dutch engineer best known for her work as cofounder of the augmented reality company Layar.
(or whatever it is she's best known for).
Don't use flashy, figurative language like "revolutionizing [things]" unless you're actually speaking of someone planning an actual revolution.
Make sure that things are sourced, and that these sources are independent of the subject of the article. You can't use someone's own website, or their LinkedIn page, or a site that's promoting her as a speaker. Use sources that are scholarly or journalistic, that rely on peer review or fact checking.
Before becoming an entrepreneur and being recognized as one of the 'Most Influential Women in Technology,' a 'Young Global Leader,' and a 'Rising Talent,' Boonstra worked as a corporate employee for KPN...
- Try setting things out chronologically. Instead, say that the worked for KPN and Unilever before doing whatever else.
- Be specific. When did she work for KPN? When did she work for Unilever?
- If you mention awards, say when they were given, and who they were given my
- Don't say that she was "recognized" - these awards are based on opinion, not an objective measure. You can only recognize something that's objectively true.
- Simple is usually better. "Corporate employee" means the same thing as "worked for", but uses bigger words and perhaps some implicit disapproval. Opinions need to be clearly stated, and they need to be attributed to a source. They're someone's opinions, they don't just arise out of the ether. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:34, 30 March 2018 (UTC)
