Todd Carty

Hi, i realise that you are unhappy with the article saying the character was axed. We are not using The Sun as a source however, we are using the BBC [1] The title clearly says "EastEnders' Mark axed from square". I realise that it was a mutual decision between actors and producers, but it still means that the character was axed, not the actor. But if yopu read it, it does actually say that it was a mutual decision in the text and that he even left earlier than they wanted. In biographical articlers, We can only put things in our pages if they are sourced. So unfortunately, we cant use quotes that are not attributable, like the ones you included. They have to be sourced, otherwise anyone could be making up any old quote and it cant be proved. I'm not saying you are making anything up, but you get the point i'm trying to make?Gungadin 00:21, 11 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thanks for your message and for all your input in the article, it's great that you feel so passionate about improving it. It takes time to learn policy here, so no worries, wikipedia is just really big on references for biographies, especially if we want to insert quotes (this is why you see some editors adding "fact" templates to unreferenced information). Now that you have given me the publication details, I can add an offline reference for Hello magazine, or, If it is just an aversion to the word axed, then that can be removed and we can instead say "the BBC announced that Mark Fowler was being written out of the serial", removing the word axed all together. That should basically cover the facts as it already says it was his decision to leave, and we possibly wouldn't need to mention the Hello interview at all. But, if you think it's important, then perhaps we can add a sentence or two saying, "it was reported in certain publications that the character had been axed; however, Carty has denied this. In an interview with Hello! Carty revealed that he made the decision to leave two years prior to his departure, primarily to spend more time with his family and take on other roles." Let me know what you think is best, and if you still want to include the Hello stuff then I will add the reference, but for now I will just remove the word axed :) Gungadin 00:52, 12 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
