Speedy deletion of Riight.com

edit

A tag has been placed on Riight.com requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. riight.com

edit

I moved your question to my talk page from the archives, where I think you accidentally posted it. It was deleted, because Wikipedia has notability guidelines, which riight.com, as it stood, did not meet. Info.com, on the other hand, was covered in multiple reliable sources, as illustrated in its References section. I hope this clears up some confusion. Speedy deletion nomination of Riight

edit

A tag has been placed on Riight requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Speedy deletion nomination of Riight

A tag has been placed on Riight, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Tony, this just isn't the place …

to promote a business (Riight) or complain about an airline( Copa Airlines).

I think maybe things are starting off awkwardly for you here.

Please take a few minutes to read the following:

Regards, --A. B. (talkcontribs) 23:10, 4 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

I totally agree with you about the above. I am not trying to blatantly promote Riight.com, but we are getting more traffic and users everyday, and have wanted to put a Wikipedia page up for over year. With our increase in users, we thought it was the right time to do that.

With regard to Copa Airlines, I am not trying to complain, but am trying to get the attention of someone at their company who can help me remedy the situation they have caused. It seems to be working, as I believe they are finally, after 3 months, going to refund what they have promised.

I do apologize for soapboxing my issue with Copa, but I felt it would help managers at the company respond to my emails and phone calls.

File source problem with File:Riight.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Riight.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 05:13, 5 May 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. DMacks (talk) 05:13, 5 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Your question about Riight

edit

In order to create an encyclopedic, non-advertisement article, there are a couple of Wikipedia policies and guidelines to consider -- but I'll boil it down to two principles for you.

First, it should be written in a neutral tone, with the intent to inform (and not to promote). This means refraining from marketing language and covering the subject in a balanced manner, including criticisms where they can be reliably documented. Neutral point of view describes most of the fundamentals.

Second, it must have received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject itself. This satisfies notability. Basically, things like newspaper or magazine articles about the site, television interviews regarding it, reviews in trade publications, mention in books -- anything not produced by the entity itself. (So press releases don't count -- those can still be used to help write an article if it already has outside sources, but on their own, they're not enough to sustain an article, because they're not independent. Likewise, many blogs and internet forums are not reliable.) Generally you'll want at least two solid independent reliable sources to support the article. Shimeru (talk) 06:51, 5 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
