JHB
editI never expected to find the talk I heard in Friends House today already written up in Wikipedia! As an admin, I have to say that we do not like userspace drafts hanging around too long. But in this case, I shall be happy to help in getting it into mainspace. What we desperately need is links to online references - just slap them in as naked URLs, I will do the rest. (And if you are Antonyralphbarlow (talk · contribs), I have to say that multiple accounts are also strongly deprecated.)
My wife and I are spending a few days in southern Ireland soon and the itinerary for me is based around folk songs. Musically The Boys of Kilmichael is a rousing, energetic song. Unfortunately it commemorates a particularly bloody indicident. It struck me that a small pacifist action would be to stick a copy of JHB report of 5 October 1920 on the back of the memorial.
Incidentally, the first meeting I attended is the one in Stramongate, Kendal. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 22:30, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

editI have reduced the lede (ie. the text preceding the Table of Contents) to a more reasonable length. I am very pleased with the result - five sentences, each of which links to a Wikipedia article and two of them already contain his name.
The stuff removed from the lede is in a temporary section called Ex-lede. I find editing an article this long a daunting experience - you have to be thoroughly conversant will all the text to avoid creating duplications and other style violations. So I am going to be a real heel and ask you to distribute the text of the Ex-lede section to other sections (but obviously not back into the lede) - or delete it altogether if it is a duplication.
Other things you could do:
- the Military Service Act 1916 makes no mention of conscientious objection. This needs to be added, and if you can provide a decent ref, add JHB's name
- Friends' Ambulance Unit - possible quote JHB as one of the founders.

editJust to spell it out: the Ex-lede section is to be eliminated - it is utterly non-standard and has a name which is utterly meaningless to non-Wikipedians. Please go through the Ex-lede section sentence by sentence:
- If the sentence completely duplicates information further down the article, delete that sentence.
- If the sentence fully or partially contains information that does not appear in later sections, move the text to an appropriate point lower down and integrate it in such a way that "the joints don't show".
