There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:
    Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
    Help contribute to articles

    Perform maintenance tasks
Become a member of a project that interests you
    Help design new templates

Remember to always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the   button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to this (your talk) page, and a timestamp.

The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!
To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own private sandbox for use any time. Perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.

User adoption

edit

Hi there. You may want to briefly write about your interests on your userpage to let adopters know a little about you. It might be a good idea to mention your intentions on contributing to GibraltarpediA --Gibmetal 77talk 2 me 11:07, 8 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Regarding adoption

edit

Hi Toromedia. I notice you've put a "request for adoption" template on your userpage. Given the number of users starting on the encyclopedia each day and the number who look for adoption, there can often be a backlog when just displaying the request. You are much more likely to find an adopter if you are pro-active about it, perhaps asking an editor or two from the list of adopters if they would consider adopting you? Good luck in finding someone to help out. WormTT(talk) 10:40, 19 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

As you're a member of WikiProject GibraltarpediA, I thought you might wish to know that there are a number of deletion requests currently ongoing relating to articles and assets involving Gibraltar. They are:

If you have any views on these deletion requests, please feel free to comment on the relevant pages. Prioryman (talk) 22:40, 25 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, now on the case. Toromedia (talk) 00:26, 26 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Uploads to Commons

edit

Thanks for your additions to commons! I would avoid framing images as this adds unnecessary "clutter" to an encyclopedia article. If you could re-upload the ones of iberis gibraltarica (go to the image on commons and click on the link that says "Upload a new version of this file" under the File History section) we could probably replace the infobox image with one of yours. --Gibmetal 77talk 2 me 19:53, 26 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Devil's Gap Battery in sandbox

edit

I hope you don't mind me tinkering with your sandbox but I've made some changes to help show you how to structure an article in terms of infobox, sections and citations. The text could do with a copy edit so it's not directly lifted from DiscoverGibraltar (although we're technically allowed to do so) and adding other reliable sources (generally travel sites are not considered reliable). I hope this helps. Any probs, you know where to find me. --Gibmetal 77talk 2 me 21:19, 26 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! Toromedia (talk) 22:08, 27 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

I found your sandbox article on Devil's Gap Battery had been located at Toromedia/sandbox, which is in article space. I've moved it to User:Toromedia/sandbox, which is in your user space. When it's ready, you can move it back into article space with the appropriate title. If you've got any questions, feel free to poke me with any questions. —Tom Morris (talk) 23:31, 26 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

  The Signpost Barnstar
This month the Signpost said that the Gibraltar project was a " ludicrously productive GLAM project". Thank you for helping us with that achievement (nice pictures!). We have got behind with the barnstars so this is one to say thank you for helping. Gibraltarpedia.org is now showing the list of about 100 plaques - do take a look and see the languages we will be featuring. Victuallers (talk) 22:01, 24 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

William's Way

edit

Thanks for your additions to my draft on the fortifications. Can you show me where this is on Google Maps please? I remember readong about the fire in this tunnel recently but I've no idea where it is... --Gibmetal 77talk 2 me 19:39, 28 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Check out new stub on Williams Way, Gibraltar, would like infobox to show map can you fix it please? Also discuss creation of article for Northern DefencesToromedia (talk) 19:52, 28 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Hi Tommy, thanks for this contribution! I'm afraid the Template:Infobox tunnel doesn't allow for maps but I've asked here for someone to look into it. --Gibmetal 77talk 2 me 00:55, 8 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Obituary of head of tunneling

edit
Arthur Robert Owen Williams (1905-1989) was known as "ARO". He trained as a miner in South Africa and was in charge of tunneling operation in Gibraltar during World Wat II. He left the army as a Lieutenant Col noel in the Royal Engineers and he was also given an OBE. He went on to retire as the Managing Director of Consolidated Gold Fields.[1] ,,, if this guy did all the WW2 tunnels then he deserves to have a tunnel named after him! Victuallers (talk) 17:12, 29 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the info, he in fact did get another tunnel named after him AROW Street, which is located parallel to the Dudley Ward Tunnel. Toromedia (talk) 17:27, 29 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Sue Rangell. I wanted to let you know that I undid one of your recent contributions, such as the one you made to Williams Way, Gibraltar, because it didn’t appear constructive to me. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks, Sue Rangell 01:39, 12 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Adoption?

edit

Toromedia, I saw you had the adoption userbox and was wondering if you'd like for me to adopt you. If you'd like to peruse my adoption school prior to answering, you may do so, but please don't edit any of the pages in it...if you'd like to be adopted, I'll set it up for you, just let me know. Thanks! The adoption school is here. Go Phightins! 03:17, 27 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Notification of discussion

edit

As a member of the Gibraltarpedia project, you may be aware that there was a discussion a few months ago on Wikipedia talk:Did you know about Gibraltar-related DYKs on the Main Page. I am proposing that the temporary restrictions on such DYKs, which were imposed in September 2012, should be lifted and have set out a case for doing so at Wikipedia talk:Did you know/Gibraltar-related DYKs. If you have a view on this, please comment at that page. Prioryman (talk) 22:17, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
