Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:
- Respect copyrights - do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- Maintain a neutral point of view - this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced to multiple reliable sources.
- No edit warring and sockpuppetry.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Deliberately adding such content or otherwise editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism, doing so will result your account or IP being blocked from editing.
The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! tedder (talk) 06:09, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
other accounts?
editAre you a new user? Your first action was to create a fairly in-depth article indicating previous knowledge of Wikipedia policies. It looks remarkably like the edits of User:Meathead200. If that was yours and you've retired that account, that's fine- but it would be appropriate to indicate that here.
If there is no connection, my apologies. tedder (talk) 06:12, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
- I am not Meathead200 nor am I related to the user. I appreciate the concern, but I mostly use MediaWiki on a company intranet, hence the intense training I received on wiki code. But, thanks for the note about signing, I have corrected a few posts where I forgot to sign. Toycars (talk) 06:18, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. And no worries about not signing- it'll come as second-nature pretty soon. tedder (talk) 06:22, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
PhoneNews article in your userspace
editI'm continuing the discussion about PhoneNews.com here instead of at WP:RFPP. Please read WP:YFA to understand the requirements for a new article. My initial concern is that it doesn't meet the notability guidelines for websites. The sources are either phonenews.com, feedraider.com (simply a search/aggregation of phonenews.com), a Fox News article that doesn't appear to even mention PhoneNews, and a search of latimes articles about cell phones that doesn't even appear to mention PhoneNews.
I won't be able to keep giving feedback- your best bet is to follow the instructions at Wikipedia:So you made a userspace draft. tedder (talk) 07:39, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
- As noted in the article, the site was previously known as PCS Intel. You should see the references there, and this was noted in the history sub-section of the article. Since you may not read this, I will review and resubmit for unprotect tomorrow after a good faith review of WP:YFA. Thanks for your feedback. Toycars (talk) 08:29, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
- You dont need to go through WP:YFA I'm happy to work with you in addressing the concerns with the article, I took the liberty of moving the artcle off your userpage into userspace at User:Toycars/PhoneNews.com which is a better place to work on the article. The talk page there can then be used solely for discussion about the article. Gnangarra 09:34, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
