Poetry

edit

From a poem by Palestinian poet Mahmud Darwish:

We shall meet in a little while
in a year
in two years
and a generation ...
I sip the kiss
from the edge of knives ...
I am the one in whose skin
chains are carving
a shape of the homeland.
translated by As'ad AbuKhalil

Zionism

edit

"It's incredible, but it seems that an Israeli law forbids Jews to adopt non-Jewish children!" he exclaimed. "This apartheid measure must be denounced by the worldwide media, and the international community should apply pressure against Israel to protest this abjectly racist law so the Israeli government will cancel it." Rael: 'Israeli Racist Laws Forbid Adoption of Palestinian Orphans!'

Hi, your graph is very informative. thanks for that. I had two suggestions. first, could you please indicate the source a bit more clearly on the graph (I understand from the accompanying text that its B'TSelem, but putting that, with perhaps a link, in the caption will help. Second, the graph currently refers to Israeli civilians and Palestinians; once again if this could be made symmetrical with Israelis (not just civilians) and Palestinians that will help .. otherwise, I fear that we'll get into discussions on who is a civilian and who is not, all over again on the talk page.

both of these are just suggestions to make sure the graph stays and is not removed in future discussions. thanks again, Jacob2718 (talk) 20:21, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Caption added. Title changed.

Chart

edit

Thanks for the chart. File:Graph showing total Israelis and Gazans killed by month for 2008.jpg

Could you upload it to the Commons so that it can be seen, used, and adapted by more Wikipedias in many languages?

You can upload here: commons:Commons:Upload

Can you upload a PNG or GIF version? They are both lossless formats for such low-color graphics. They aren't grainy like JPG can be sometimes.

See also: commons:Commons:Chart and graph resources. --Timeshifter (talk) 21:51, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Israelis_killed_by_Palestinians_in_Israel_and_Palestinians_killed_by_Israelis_in_Gaza_-_2008.png

(unindent) Thanks! You make a media or image file clickable by adding double brackets around it, and putting a colon (:) in front:

[[:File:Israelis killed by Palestinians in Israel and Palestinians killed by Israelis in Gaza - 2008.png]]

produces this:

File:Israelis killed by Palestinians in Israel and Palestinians killed by Israelis in Gaza - 2008.png

Please don't forget to add a category to the Commons page or no one may ever find the image. I went ahead and added a category to the commons image page.

One doesn't normally add a category to the Wikipedia image page. It won't show up in the Commons categories, and that is the category system that matters for image files. People worldwide will find the image there in the Commons categories. --Timeshifter (talk) 06:09, 13 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks!

AfD nomination of List of Palestinian fatalities resulting from Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip in 2008

edit

I have nominated List of Palestinian fatalities resulting from Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip in 2008, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Palestinian fatalities resulting from Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip in 2008. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
