editWelcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from TV Land: Myths and Legends. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently copied the contents of a page and pasted it into another with a different name. This is what we call a "cut and paste move", and it is very undesirable because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. The mechanism we use for renaming an article is to move it to a new name which both preserves the page's history and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself by this process, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves to request the move by another. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. editIn this edit, you replaced sourced material with unsourced trivia. Please be more careful. -- The Red Pen of Doom 01:47, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Please read what wikipedia counts as sourcing: WP:V and WP:RS for example. Wikipedia articles are NOT reliable sources. Please revert yourself. -- The Red Pen of Doom 02:15, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Again, I request that you read Wikipedia's policies of verifiability and reliable sources and remove the unsourced Family Guy trivia. -- The Red Pen of Doom 02:42, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
Warning
editPlease do not add unsourced or original content, as you did to 867-5309/Jenny. Doing so violates Wikipedia's verifiability policy. If you continue to do so, your edits will be considered vandalism and you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. -- The Red Pen of Doom 02:26, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
You need a reliable source to back up all these cultural references, and my version of the article, which is written in clear prose, has reliable references; your version does not. Stop reverting TheBlazikenMaster, we have better things to do, and so do you. If you can find any GA (or indeed FA) Family Guy or Simpsons episode articles with bulleted trivia, then you tell me. Until then, the prose version should stick. Qst (talk) 11:45, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
Please do not add content without citing reliable sources, as you did to Blind Ambition (Family Guy). Before making potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Contact me if you need assistance adding references. Thank you. Cirt (talk) 12:01, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
- Just because many articles have something doesn't make it right, see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Wikipedia is a work in progress, there are plenty of articles that still need work. And I believe you haven't been looking hard enough, there are in fact plenty of Family Guy articles that are in paragraphs. In case you're wondering, we're sourcing the commentary, because there the actual writers say what they're referencing. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 13:03, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:S Club 8 Sundown Album Cover.jpg)
editThanks for uploading Image:S Club 8 Sundown Album Cover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:08, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Punctuation and quotation marks
editHi there, you might want to take a look at Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Quotation marks. Wikipedia uses the logical quotation system, which means that punctuation should not be placed inside quotation marks surrounding song titles, unless the punctuation is part of the song title. AfD nomination of Disney Channel Circle of Stars
editAn editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Disney Channel Circle of Stars. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Disney Channel Circle of Stars. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:05, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.jpg
editA tag has been placed on File:YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File permission problem with File:SliderSonic.gif
editThanks for uploading File:SliderSonic.gif. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Masur (talk) 15:16, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
