editHi Trinity17,
Your article is looking great so far! You've got a lot of interesting points that you can build on for your final draft. Here are a few points that might be helpful to you:
History:
- You have a point about the growth on agar plates --> Perhaps move this to a "Growth and morphology" section (see a note about this in the "General" section towards the end)
- "researchers examined the growth and function of this fungi" --> This part seems unnecessary as that's what tends to happen when something new is discovered. If you are going to say that, I think you need to follow it up with some relevant information about what this observation resulted in
- "seen as a separate genus" --> Separate genus from what? Perhaps you can talk about the issues identifying it in this section, which would be a good way to lead into the Taxonomy section (if there were issues in naming it)
Taxonomy:
- You have a point about this being a parasitic fungus --> perhaps move that to the "Physiology" section
Physiology:
- You talk about the uses of this fungi in farming and agriculture --> perhaps move that to another section about its uses
- This point (the one about the uses of this fungi) is really interesting! It shows relevance to everyday life and displays its functionality. Perhaps you can add more information about this for your final draft as it seems quite important
Habitat and ecology:
- Are there any countries in particular where this fungus is found? (ie. a higher prevalence in any particular place with the climates you described?)
- I think your points in this part can be split up so some information is in an "Epidemiology" (or your existing "Pathology") section where you discuss prevalence of the disease it causes (GIN), countries it is found in, antidotes, etc.
- You say "tons of antidotes" --> can you be more specific? What are some examples? How effective have they been?
- If you split up the information, the remaining "Habitat and ecology" information seems like it would make good introductory material, so this section might be better placed after the "Taxonomy" section
Pathology:
- This section has some really good information in here! You've found a lot of great details and really fleshed it out. Great work!
General Notes:
- Formatting: The fungus name is not needed at the top of the page. Once this sandbox gets moved to a main page, the fungus name will be in the title line
- Formatting: The introductory line does not need to be a bullet point
- Formatting: You have created a classification box of your own, so you don't need to copy it from the stub page and have it posted on the bottom of your own page
- Formatting: Cite the source for the binomial name information (check Mycobank)
- Perhaps consider making a "Growth and morphology" section --> you can discuss the growth rate of this fungus on various media, the size, etc.
- This reference is a good one, and it might work for you as your fungus grows on vegetation first: Pitt, J.I.; Hocking, A.D. (1999). Fungi and food spoilage (2nd ed.). Gaithersburg, Md.: Aspen Publications. ISBN 0834213060.
- Here is another one that might help you: Domsch, K.H.; Gams, Walter; Andersen, Traute-Heidi (1980). Compendium of soil fungi (2nd ed.). London, UK: Academic Press. ISBN 9780122204029.
- There are a few grammar, capitalization (some words are capitalized that do not need to be, like "nematodes"), and punctuation (apostrophes are used incorrectly in a few places) issues you should look over
- Check your usage of fungi vs. fungus (fungi is plural while fungus is singular, so use "fungus" when talking about just your species)
- Seems like you can link a few of the terms you uses to external Wikipedia pages to give the reader more information
- Moving around the order of your points in most sections will provide a better flow
- Some points need to be moved to other sections as they are a better fit under different sections
Like I said earlier, you've done a great job! I hope some of these points will be helpful for when you create your final draft. Good luck!
