editHello, I'm Oshwah. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Jehovah's Witnesses' handling of child sex abuse seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:53, 24 March 2018 (UTC)
Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( in the enhanced toolbar, or if you use the old "classic" toolbar) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Thank you. 331dot (talk) 09:43, 24 March 2018 (UTC)
JWs
editRegarding your suggestion that I am a JW... Firstly, it is inappropriate, as my edits stand on their merits rather than on any religious affiliation or lack thereof. Secondly, it's absurd given the fact that I am an atheist as is unambiguously indicated at my User page. Thirdly, it is humorous, as I am frequently accused of being both pro and anti JW on Wikipedia, depending on the type of bias that I happen to be removing from articles at any given time. You should stop making any such suggestion. This is your only warning.--Jeffro77 (talk) 00:10, 25 March 2018 (UTC)
@Jeffro77: I didn't suggest you are a JW - I asked if you are. What do you mean "this is your only warning"? I'm relatively new here at Wikipedia, so am still learning the ropes. Is there some kind of way that you can get me booted out of Wikipedia for simply asking questions that people find offensive, or saying offensive things? (Because I could argue that I find it offensive that you are offended at me and have expressed that offense, which I hope you can see could result in an absurd infinite regress of both of us being offended.) If there is a rule somewhere that says we can't ask certain questions or say certain things then I'd appreciate being shown this rule, as I am quite busy and as I've already mentioned I'm still learning the ropes.
Inappropriate - why? Is that a rule, or is that your opinion? What qualifies as inappropriate and who determines that? I'm not aware of your religious affiliation and that's why I felt it was necessary to ask, given the nature of the article and the potential for bias. I didn't look at your user page to try and sift through where it might say what your religious beliefs may be, so I felt it was easiest just to ask. TruthSeekerJC (talk) 02:30, 25 March 2018 (UTC)
- I should probably have been more specific. Comment on articles, not editors. If you make any further personal attacks, including insinuation that I am defending JWs as a member of the group, you may be reported to admins.--Jeffro77 (talk) 04:02, 25 March 2018 (UTC)
- I didn't actually realise you are a new editor, as your earliest edits go back several years, and some of your edits bear a resemblance to edits made by User:Truth.ceeker. Sorry if this is only a coincidence.--Jeffro77 (talk) 04:27, 25 March 2018 (UTC)
False accusations
editYou stated, "I've read elsewhere that others have recommended that you not have anything further to do with editing JW pages as there was a big dispute about whether or not you were biased." Who, where, and what did they say?--Jeffro77 (talk) 10:12, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
Still waiting for you to elaborate on what amounts to a personal attack by yourself and/or other editors. If you are unable to specify other editors, I will have to assume that the allegation is your own invention.--Jeffro77 (talk) 08:01, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
April 2018
edit You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Jehovah's Witnesses' handling of child sex abuse. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. 331dot (talk) 12:59, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
This message is being sent to let you know of a discussion at the Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard regarding a content dispute discussion you may have participated in. Content disputes can hold up article development and make editing difficult for editors. You are not required to participate, but you are both invited and encouraged to help this dispute come to a resolution. Please join us to help form a consensus. Thank you!
