editBarefoot Sound LLC was founded by Thomas Barefoot who began manufacturing studio monitor loudspeakers in 2004 in San Francisco, California, USA. [1]
Barefoot Sound products are highly regarded in the recording industry and noted for a number of features unusual to studio monitors: integrated dual side-firing subwoofers that work in opposition in order to cancel mechanical vibrations, relatively compact speakers that function as nearfield monitors yet have power and bass extension more commonly found in main and mid-field monitors, and their MEME (acronym for Multi-Emphasis Monitor Emulation) technology that uses DSP to emulate the sound characteristics of other studio monitors such as the Yamaha NS-10.
