Speedy deletion nomination of User:USFederalContractorRegistration/sandbox

edit

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:USFederalContractorRegistration/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. StarM 19:23, 19 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Requested username:

Request reason:

I want to get unblock because I am creating a page for my employees, explaining what the business does and how the business works. I am not promoting the business, I am just explaining what we do

Decline reason:

On Wikipedia, "explaining what we do" is considered promotional. As such, you won't be unblocked to edit about your business, at least in the short term. If you are interested in being a general contributor, please tell what topics completely unrelated to your conflict of interest that you will edit about. Please review conflict of interest and paid editing. Your username choice is not acceptable; your username must indicate that a specific individual is exclusively operating this account. Your real name is not required. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 20:02, 25 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

What changes can I make to get the page published? I understand I am not allowed to talk about a page to promote it, however, I see no difference between my page and other pages explaining a business. I read the guidelines and I am not sure where exactly the problem with my article lays. Could you please help me with some advice on how I can mage my page publishable? — Preceding unsigned comment added by USFederalContractorRegistration (talkcontribs) 16:24, 26 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I believe it was an error for blocking me as a user, the username USFCR does not violate any username guidelines.

Decline reason:

It was not an error. The username USFCR still represents the organisation. Usernames may not represent a group, organisation, business, product, service, or website, nor a role within them. Your username needs to represent YOU, not your job. Please read the Username policy and choose another name. You won't be unblocked to edit about your business, at least in the short term. If you are interested in being a general contributor, please tell what topics completely unrelated to your conflict of interest that you will edit about. Please review conflict of interest and paid editing. I am declining your request. Cabayi (talk) 17:25, 26 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

After a lot of research and reading your responses I now fully understand that my username cannot represent a group, organization, business, product, service or website. I now whope to change the username to my personal name Lina instead. Hopefully this will allow me to be unblocked. Once I am unblocked I will follow the strict guidelines on how to write a page. I hope this can work out and that my IP address will be unblocked.

Please include a decline or accept reason.

If you still intend to write an article on your employer even when you are unblocked, that would violate the conflict of interest policy. (If you don't understand that already) -GoatLordServant(Talk-Contribs) 18:04, 26 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
We don't have "pages". We have articles. It's not just a word choice, but an important distinction. Articles here are typically written by independent editors, not the subject. Wikipedia articles are not for merely telling about the subject and are not a place for businesses/people to tell about themselves, even if they are not soliciting customers or selling something. Wikipedia articles summarize what independent reliable sources say, not what a subject itself says. 331dot (talk) 18:47, 26 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
If you are aware of other inappropriate articles that merely describe a business, please point them out. As this is a volunteer project where people do what they can when they can, and as we have 6 million plus articles, it is possible for inappropriate articles to go undetected. We can only address what we know about. That doesn't mean that other inappropriate content can be permitted, see other stuff exists. 331dot (talk) 18:52, 26 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Renamed

edit

Renamed to linac11. Obviously the other reasons for blocking remain and need to be resolved before another admin unblocks. Nosebagbear (talk) 17:57, 2 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
