Thanks for the invitation, but to be honest I only started watching the article because of the Weird Al connection. I understand why the citation tag was added to the mention of "Virus Alert", but I don't really have enough interest in the article to start digging around for a source. My hope was that someone who's actually a fan of the band would go ahead and do so, but it doesn't seem to have happened yet. I listened to some of the Sparks' music on Pandora, and quite frankly I was underwhelmed. I wish you well in your efforts, but I don't really care enough about it to take part. For what it's worth, there's no longer any question as to whether or not the song is a Sparks tribute. The Mael brothers are thanked in the liner notes, the animated video features musicians that resemble them, and the musical resemblence is fairly obvious, all that's left is for Al to confirm the tribute in an interview, which is less likely to happen than it was on previous ablums, since he now includes his style parody targets in his "Special Thanks" (so the question isn't likely to be asked in the first place). - Ugliness Man 12:35, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Checking my Devo 2.0 album liner notes, Alan Myers did *not* play on the album. It lists Freese for Whip It and The Winner, and another drummer, Neil Taylor for the rest of the tracks.

Tt's a Type 1 deck that uses, dunno if it's still viable, a variety of artifacts like Smokestack to lock down gameplay while using all that jazzy Type 1 artifact abuse to pump out powerful and expensive cards way too early. Dare to be Stupid

Hi - thanks for your good faith input to Dare to be Stupid. It's actually not close to Devo's cover of Satisfaction. Al's Dare to be Stupid has some of the same chord progressions and rhythmic devices as "Big Mess" and many of the same synth riffs. I believe I can find a citation for it - I'll add something to the page... Yes, here's one, [1] - this person claims it has "Big Mess" and a little of "Deep Sleep" as well. Here's one that says it's "Freedom of Choice" and "Big Mess" [2]. This one also says "Big Mess" and "Deep Sleep" [3]. Anyway, thanks again, but I changed it back. Woops, sorry, I just noticed your comment said the video is closer to "Satisfaction". My mistake. And you're right, it is. (Feel free to add that info on the page if you want.) It's got a little of the "Whip It" video too (here's Whip It at Youtube: [6]). But, my contribution to the article did say bearing closest resemblance musically to Devo's "Big Mess" so it's still valid. Gekritzl 22:55, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Both the video and the song contain elements from many Devo songs (I see elements in the video from "Satisfaction", "Whip It", "Beautiful World", "Freedom of Choice" and "Come Back Jonee", and that's just from memory, I'm sure I could spot at least 3 more while watching it). As has been discussed at length in many Al-related articles, a style parody of a particular artist is by definition not a parody of a specific song. Mentioning similarities to specific songs is sometimes legitimate, but most of the time is OR. All of those links you provided to support your argument are the opinions of individuals and are not encyclopedic. The article in question is an article about the album in general, getting into the specifics of which Devo elements are present in the song would be superfluous at best, and OR at worst. If there is ever a Weird Al wiki, then every style parody can have a list of individual songs which seem to be influential, but this is not a Weird Al wiki, this is the general Wikipedia, and there is already way too much trivia on the Al-related articles as it is. - Ugliness Man 01:20, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Help from an expert

Hi there. I've recently been working on improving the 'Gloomy Sunday' article, and noticed that you showed an interest in it at a previous date. Well excuse my boldness (and absolute noobiness) but as you would notice if you go onto the article, I've been having some trouble with the picture (could never quite figure out the damn uploading process). Since I have absolutly no where left to turn, I was wondering if I could badger some of the past contributers (or anyone else who reads this in pity) to maybe assit in fixing the image problems?
