Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 19:22, 8 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

We are a 501c(3) nonprofit film organization that wants to update records with details about us, such as name changes to our programs/festivals, projects we support, and Utah film history and news. We are happy to add a disclosure on our page. Apologies that we used a username against the policy, we wanted to be transparent, but see that our original chosen username goes against the username policy as it is not specific enough. For edits, we will also make sure to use external citations only moving forward. Additionally, if there are bigger edits to be made we will use COI template. Thank you.

Decline reason:

That would be fine as a new username- though only Hal will need to be operating this account, no one else should have access(you say "we"). Others at your organization will need their own accounts(though they shouldn't create them until this block is removed). Usually in this situation we want to see the user build up a history of edits in areas unrelated to their conflict of interest, as a demonstration of their understanding of relevant policies(i.e. like content and sourcing); otherwise we find that allowing the user to dive right back into making contributions is a waste of time for everyone(including the editor). Wikipedia isn't a place for your organization to just list its activities- its article should summarize what independent reliable sources say is notable about the organization. 331dot (talk) 09:12, 9 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
