External links
editWikipedia is not a link pharm. Every external link must provide encyclopedic value for the specific article for which it is included. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 21:05, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
- An external link needs to provide a unique resource of verified information. The information is not verified nor is it a unique repository of such information. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 22:51, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
Further to this, links to search engines are discouraged under WP:LINKSTOAVOID. It doesn't help the reader to, at the bottom of the Harry Houdini article, provide a general link to a search engine that's a "World map of magic places, featuring points of interest related to Harry Houdini." - these places of interest should, if important, already be documented in the article. If they aren't, it's more useful to add them to the text than to tell the reader to visit a website, enter a search term, and then click through the results until they find something the article hasn't already told them. --McGeddon (talk) 09:42, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
