Citing publications of Michal M. Nikoletseas
editAfter replying on my talk page I did some further checking on Nikoletseas's publications in WorldCat and found that, with the exception of his scientific works, they were all self published. I also looked at a few of your edits and found that you frequently cited Nikoletseas. I would strongly recommend against citing those self published works in Wikipedia. --SteveMcCluskey (talk) 14:46, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
- I have since noticed that the interests in the biographical note on your User page very closely matches Nikoletseas's curriculum vitae. If you are closely related to Nikoletseas, please review Wikipedia's guideline on Conflict of Interest. --SteveMcCluskey (talk) 14:55, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
Reply by ekplatonos Your criticism is based on the rules of Wikipedia and therefore is justified. I wonder whether it is easier to get science and literary books into libraries like Harvard or Berkeley than to have them published by some professional publishers. Lastly, let us not turn this into an ad hominem investigation. ekplatonos --Ekplatonos (talk) 10:33, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
- I understand your point about difficulties of getting published.
- A thought about editing Wikipedia. Wikipedia has its own rules about reliability, which flow from some problems in its early days with people who wanted to publish their own theories here. Consequently, there's a general objection to citing oneself unless there's no other source. These guidelines can be hard for established scholars. I find it's easier to cite someone you've already cited in one of your own works than to cite yourself. Hope this helps you with your future edits. --SteveMcCluskey (talk) 16:55, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
Reply by ekplatonos Yes, I understand the logic of the rules of Wikipedia. Wikipedia would degenerate into a graffiti board, were it to allow self-published works uncritically. By the way, my reference to difficulties was misread. I meant that it is very difficult to have a book added to the acquisitions of libraries like Harvard or Berkeley, more so if the book is not the garden variety of rehashing what is already known. It is easier to find a publisher. Regards, ekplatonos--Ekplatonos (talk) 10:33, 12 June 2015 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Νικολετσέας Μιχάλης.png
editThank you for uploading File:Νικολετσέας Μιχάλης.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Diannaa (talk) 02:03, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
