Section Blanking/ Vandalism

Hi! Welcome to Wikipedia. I hope you enjoy it. Your recent edits at Kevin Barrett are disconcerting. Section blanking is often considered vandalism. The appropriate and helpful response to dead links is to search for the new links, not to delete vast swathes of longstanding articles. For example the Wisconsin State Journal dead link does not mean that the section is "unsourced" it means the link is dead. A quick look at their (WSJ) site reveals the new link. "Minor" edit on Skull and Bones

Your "grammar" edit on the Skull and Bones article was marked "Minor" but did not meet the criteria for a Minor edit (please see WP:MINOR). Also, you messed up the meaning of the paragraph, which was discussing a certain set of "conspiracy" theorists, and needed to say so for continuity.

In my defense, spelling and grammatical corrections are regarded as "minor" changes. However, I see now that removing "the" changed the meaning so I apologize for that; however, "The theorists such as Alexandra Robbins suggest that Skull & Bones is a branch of the Illuminati,[32] or that Skull & Bones itself controls the Central Intelligence Agency[53]; the conspiracy theorists relying on supposed personal connections and coincidences" just doesn't make grammatical sense to me. Should it not say "the conspiracy theorists rely on supposed . . . " or even, "Relying on supposed personal connections and coincidences, the theorists such as Alexandra Robbins suggest..." Regarding your assertion, "spelling and grammatical corrections are regarded as 'minor' changes", the answer is, "Not here, they aren't." From the Wikipedia policy WP:MINOR (which you should read): "A minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute."

The operative phrase here is "could never".

In Wikipedia, as in many other things, what we "think" or "know" doesn't carry any weight compared to what policies "say".

That was not an assertion. I have indeed read WP:Minor, and the first bullet under the heading "When to mark an edit as a minor edit" clearly reads "Spelling and grammatical corrections." Further, at the time of my edit, I felt that it required no review and was undisputable. And I do hope that you will look at it again because a semicolon followed by a dependent clause is glaring to the native English speaker.Vatan79 (talk) 00:57, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
