Disregard this comment - misread the previous comments.
Nancy
editI know you're interested in this, so here's another possible twist. Some readers have noticed a similarity between the current art in Nancy and the webcomic Imogen Quest. Note that IQ's artist is also an Olivia. Might be premature to include this in the article, but it could be something to keep an eye on.Bjones (talk) 23:33, 17 April 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the link to that NYT article. I've only just gotten a chance to read it. It does offer some choice tidbits that could be added to the articles, with a few quotes from comics scholars.Bjones (talk) 17:50, 9 May 2018 (UTC)

Encouraging newbies to reply on archive page
editI notice that you have recently sent a few Teahouse talkback messages pointing to archive pages (such as here). The talkback message says "Feel free to reply there!" (as the talkback template was presumably not designed to be used with archive pages), so a newbie receiving your message might think that it is correct to reply on the archive page, which of course it isn't. The wording of the messages from Muninnbot is rather more appropriate, an example being here; apparently the bot was tested and will hopefully be active relatively soon. Prior to that, if you want to send messages pointing to archives perhaps you could develop a variant from WP:Teahouse/Teahouse talkback to change the wording appropriately? --David Biddulph (talk) 01:22, 5 May 2018 (UTC)
- Good point. I was using just a link with the Help Desk. But I wasn't the first to use that variation of the Teahouse template for an already archived message. I don't know how to develop templates, but if I see no evidence that a person saw the message, I'll leave a link using that template. Unless the person comes back a lot or would know to come back as soon as the message was received. It does make more sense to link to the archived version. I'm about a month behind reading the Teahouse archives.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions •

Hello and please help
editHi VChimpanzee,
I am finding Wiki more confusing than any web site I have yet encountered!
In my inbox it said "Vchimpanzee left you a message on Wikipedia".
Then clicking on "View message" took me to my User talk page, where it said:
More advice here.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 19:30, 21 May 2018 (UTC)"
(Ok so far)
Clicking on "here" took to Wiki help desk where it said:
Cath Writer (talk) 10:44, 5 May 2018 (UTC) You should go to Talk:Sun Tzu and make this explanation. The article's talk page is tthe best place to discuss the article. People who are interested in the article will be watching it. Underbar dk will probably be watching it also and can respond with more info about why the info was removed. ~ GB fan 10:59, 5 May 2018 (UTC)
Who is GB fan and what is his connection to you?
Clicking on "Vchimpanzee" took me to your web page.
Incidentally, is this web page of any interest: https://keiranproffer.weebly.com/adam-darwin-and-washoe.html

Thank you
editThank you for a good complete answer. My strong interest at this time is to improve the Thaddeus Golas stub and cause it to be a page rather than a stub. I have no other wikipedia projects but am willing to study the rules to accomplish making the Thaddeus Golas page excellent as he deserves. Rather than going on this learning curve perhaps I should be seeking expert assistance. Metaphysics Man (talk) 22:24, 16 June 2018 (UTC)

Notification of discretionary sanctions on articles related to biographies of living persons
editPlease carefully read this information:
The Arbitration Committee has authorised discretionary sanctions to be used for edits and pages regarding living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic which you have edited. The Committee's decision is here.
Discretionary sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimize disruption to controversial topics. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to the topic that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behavior, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. This message is to notify you that sanctions are authorised for the topic you are editing. Before continuing to edit this topic, please familiarise yourself with the discretionary sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions. If you have questions, please contact me.Books & Bytes – Issue 29

Searching for links to specific section name anchors
editI ended up gaining confidence in my last comment on the question. I could not find a more specific technique than
- linksto:"Hamlet chicken processing plant fire" insource:"actions"
which finds
- ... the [[Greensboro sit-ins#Actions at Woolworth|"Greensboro Four/A&T Four"]], who ...
Possibly more specific still could be
- linksto:"Hamlet chicken processing plant fire" insource:"#actions"
but it seems insource ignores the '#' and gives the same results as the first.
My interest was aroused when I had complained to two other editors and got replies:
- For some reason I never thought of this, yes, I should check for links to the sections I delete, thanks for pointing this out!
- How am I supposed to know that the heading is being linked to? Editors usually place a hidden note at the target when they use an anchor, as per the guidance at WP:TARGET, but there wasn't one.
and then encountered the situation myself.
I did get brave enough to make the change I wanted.
I wish there was a 'magic' way to do this, as in "real short way to tell them about when suggesting they do it". Shenme (talk) 17:41, 8 September 2018 (UTC)

ArbCom 2018 election voter message
editHello, Vchimpanzee. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
