You said on Wikipedia:Redirects for deletion that Anabolism (disambiguation) should be a disambiguation page instead of a redirect to Cell metabolism. In that case, you can just make it a disambiguation page. There is no need to list the page on Wikipedia:Redirects for deletion, if you want to replace the redirect by something else, only if you want to delete it. I hope this clarifies the matter; if not, feel free to ask. Cheers, Jitse Niesen (talk) 23:00, 29 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

There is no other meaning of Anabolism i think. So i don't think there is any harm in deleting it. Vedant lath 12:31, 30 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well, the page Anabolism (disambiguation) has been around for over a year, so it may be possible that older revisions of Wikipedia articles links to it, or that web pages outside of Wikipedia link to it. Thus, deleting it might cause harm, though of course it will be minimal. On the other hand, having Anabolism (disambiguation) around costs only a few bytes in the database. I think that we should keep the redirect, but I guess we should have it point to anabolism instead of cell metabolism. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 15:43, 30 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
As no actual article links to it, (links) i don't think any old article links to it. About the web pages outside of Wikipedia, why doesn't MediaWiki check the referrers of the GET requests to pages? it could easily track the list of outside pages that link to it. I don't fully agree over keeping it, but it is better linking to anabolism rather than cell metabolism. btw, Anabolism (disamiguation) may cost few bytes in the database, but several pages which cost few bytes make it huge. That's why rebuilding all links in a P4 2 GHz takes so many days. Vedant lath 15:54, 30 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Changed the redirect to Anabolism. vedant (talkcontribs) 06:31, 3 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Minor Edits

edit

Sorry, I just forgot to tag the edits as minor. I will try to remember next time. Arundhati Bakshi 12:26, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

Okay. btw, your signature does not link to your user page. I don't know why you don't want people to know more about you. vedant (talkcontribs) 13:50, 22 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
I am a menber of Esperanza and we are asked to use the template in our signature. However I use my user name (Arundhati_bakshi) so that people can type it into their URL and go to it. there has been some discussion about this, but no consensus yet. again my apologies for not marking my edits as minor. Arundhati Bakshi 17:40, 22 February 2006 (UTC) (talkcontribs)
There are many policies and rules in Wikipedia. The community is also huge. But there are so many explanations that are not needed. (don't start a war, please) While adding help and other things for newcomers to icsebooks, I had to remove many things that were not needed. It was a pain, really. I have left icsebooks for now as the ICSE exams (starting March 1) are dancing over my head. btw, you changed your signature now. The date appears in the middle. How do you do that? I have no idea about it. vedant (talkcontribs) 17:53, 22 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
No war from me, I was just trying to help. Since you mentioned my sig, I altered it to read: <font color="green">A</font>rundhati Bakshi (talk • contribs) so that people could get back to my talk page of they needed. There is a tutorial available here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Smurrayinchester/Tutorial/Signature -- you might find it of use. I did not mean to break any rules or policies, but I am still learning how things work here, so sorry if I did anything wrong. My exams will be over this friday. Good luck on yours! Arundhati Bakshi (talkcontribs) 18:54, 22 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
I tried that, but the date doesn't come in the middle. I also do not mean to break any rules, but i like to do what i feel right. If I am proved wrong, I am glad to correct myself, however. btw, what exams are you giving? vedant (talkcontribs) 19:08, 22 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Make sure you click the "Raw" checkbox when you add the sig in your "Nickname" box. My next exams are civics and history. I feel Ok about them, less so about the math exam I just had. Arundhati Bakshi (talkcontribs) 20:07, 22 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
yes, i have clicked the "raw" checkbox. everything comes fine but the date is not in the middle. but now in your sig date does not come in the middle. but, what exams are you giving? ICSE? CBSE? Graduate? what? vedant (talkcontribs) 20:30, 22 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
btw, if you want to know more, i am giving ICSE exams. see the schedule here: http://vedant.lath.in/icse/ICSE/2006/Time_Table vedant (talkcontribs) 20:52, 22 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

I am taking CBSE exams now. As for the sig, you may want to ask user Smurrayinchester as he is the one who wrote the sig tutorial and would probably know how to help you. Arundhati Bakshi (talkcontribs) 00:23, 23 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
I am surprised you are giving so much time to Wikipedia while giving CBSE exams. I have heard many parents pull the power from the computer while the exams are going, but in your case its just the opposite! vedant (talkcontribs) 05:54, 23 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
And thanks for creating an account in icsebooks. vedant (talkcontribs) 05:55, 23 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well, Wikipedia is a good resource to study from, so I can usually get away with it. :) Besides, the exams are almost over and whatever studying I had to do is more or less done. No prob about the account at your website. I will try to visit and see if I can help there when I have more time. Arundhati Bakshi (talkcontribs) 12:55, 23 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
I don't know how you will be able to contribute much to icsebooks, as it is related to ICSE, not CBSE. I think that the two boards are completely different. However, you can do misc. work there. When I started the wiki, I had no idea what the name should be, so I just named the project Icse. Recently, I thought of a better name 'icesbooks' and changed the project name. I have corrected all the references to Icse wiki to icsebooks, but project pages like 'Icse:Collaboration of the Month' etc. have to be moved to 'icsebooks:Collaboration of the Month' etc. You can go to Special:Allpages and move all the Icse project pages to the icsebooks namespace. Also, pages have to be made to guide the newbies to make them contribute and help icsebooks. The help pages are currently interwiki'd to meta, but they have to shortened in icsebooks as most students don't have much time to do all these things, and they should also do max amt of work in min time. As you say the exams are almost over, I don't think it will be a prob. btw, how is CBSE? is it much rote learning? in ICSE, there is almost no rote learning, except in lit. and history. vedant (talkcontribs) 13:54, 23 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Geography, too vedant (talkcontribs) 13:55, 23 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
CBSE is some rote learning but it has a good bit of problem solving on it as well, especially in the math and physics areas. Not sure how much I can help but I will try. Arundhati Bakshi (talkcontribs) 00:46, 24 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
In ICSE, there are a lot of numericals in physics. Chemistry also has some. But they are all objective questions. I don't think any bit is of more than 3 marks in any subject except maths, lit and comp. Answers of three lines suffice very well, if they have the points. CBSE is mainly of writing huge answers (10 lines or so), I think. Am I correct? vedant (talkcontribs) 05:38, 24 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yes, the answers expected are usually pretty lengthy, but its the math and physics type questions which I always have the problems with. Am reasonably good at the other subs. (Arundhati Bakshi (talkcontribs)) 13:42, 24 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
I think I should really thank my parents for sending me to an ICSE school. I was never successful in long answers. In ICSE, maths is easy I think, as long as you practice it (!). Physics is one of the easiest for me. When does your CBSE exams end? vedant (talkcontribs) 17:27, 24 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

I won't remove content from my talk pages again. (Arundhati Bakshi (talkcontribs)) 13:39, 24 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

You use 'sorry' a lot of times. Try not to. It's ok as long as you admit you made a mistake. Also, you should have fixed the typo you made. But its ok anyway. vedant (talkcontribs) 17:27, 24 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

lath

edit

Why the name lath? Interesting though. +10 000 thundering typhoons 06:59, 13 March 2006 (UTC)+Reply

Lath is my surname. When creating the account I wanted to use the username 'vedant_lath' (my usual username) but MediaWiki converted it to 'Vedant_lath'. But how is it interesting?
btw, I see that at the end of your signature there is '+' sign. How do you do that? vedant (talkcontribs) 08:39, 13 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ok. I thought it was the "lathi" and you are the man wielding lathi of "vedant". I have a habit of typing my name between + +. Perhaps a bad habit since undergrad. We will talk more later.
+10 000 thundering typhoons 11:54, 17 March 2006 (UTC)+Reply
No no, I didn't want to know your habit. I want what you type in the Nickname in Special:Preferences. —vedant (talkcontribs) 13:05, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Furlin cowns

edit

Hey; found Furlin cowns which you tagged as speedy: just wanted to remind you, you shouldn't say that adding a speedy deletion tag to an article is a minor edit, and you should use an edit summary when you do (also when you use prod: it's a courtesy to editors who care about the page). Mind you, I totally agree that that page is deletable nonsense. Mangojuice 20:50, 24 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I was feeling bored at that time having nothing to do for the moment. So I thought to see Special:Recentchanges. I just forgot to uncheck the button for minor edit. The next article I tagged as speedy, it was not a minor edit and also had 'speedy' or sth in the edit summary. Once again, I say, it was just the forgetfulness of mine, and I think the probability of it happenning again is very less. —vedant (talkcontribs) 05:25, 25 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
