Many thanks for adding International Literacy Day to Wikipedia:Selected anniversaries/September 8. I didn't know what to do exactly to add an anniversary/celebration.--Michkalas 08:17, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

edit[3]: How do you know this is specifically what Mitchell had in mind? Citation? - Jmabel | Talk 22:59, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

- Honestly, I don't have a citation, though I have heard from multiple sources that that was the case. For what it's worth, Big Yellow Taxi seems to corroborate the assertion. —Cuiviénen 14:48, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

- From the lyrics, it could be about the demolition of anything, the destruction of wilderness, you name it. I don't think this belongs in the article on the basis of uncitable rumor. - Jmabel | Talk 17:28, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
On this day
editHi, I saw your name in talk:Main page#Al-Quds Day.So you may be able to help me. As I said there the information in "On this day" isn't completely correct. But the more important issue that I can help with Islamic calendar and events, if you want.--Sa.vakilian 10:51, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
WikiProject query
editHi there, I am doing some clean up on the list of proposed WikiProjects. I noticed that WikiProject Featured Articles has been listed for more than 60 days. Unless you object, I would like to remove it from the list since it is unlikely to receive further feedback. Thanks! --Aguerriero (talk) 18:29, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Quick question...
editPlease see my user page header (here). On it, I have some lyrics to a song by My Chemical Romance. Chacor thought it would be a good idea to ask an admin if it would be okay to keep the lyrics, and if there were any copyright laws or anything. So, am I breaking any rules by putting the lyrics there, or can I keep them? Coredesat said it should be fine, because I didn't use all the lyrics (which I understand is not allowed), but I thought I should get a second opinion from another admin. →Cyclone1→ 01:47, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
- I wouldn't venture to profess expertise, but generally using excerpts of lyrics for personal purposes is fine; it doesn't violate Wikipedia as they are on a personal page. As long as provide credit, which you do, it's really not different from having a quotation in an essay, for example. —Cuiviénen 02:11, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

J. R. R. Tolkien
editWhoa buddy, that's a FA. I don't think you want to protect that: WP:SPP#When_not_to_use_semi-protection. Patstuart(talk)(contribs) 01:30, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
- I know you had your reasons, but that looked like a pretty steadfast rule: I wasn't finding much more vandalism than normal on that, for it being an FA. Patstuart(talk)(contribs) 01:31, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
- Ditto. The vandalism level seems pretty normal for a FA. savidan(talk) (e@) 01:34, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
- Once a minute is not a usual amount, and the FA semiprotection rule is routinely broken. As I said on the talk page, it doesn't need to be semiprotected for long (maybe an hour), just long enough for the novelty to wear off. —Cuiviénen 01:38, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
- I'd recommend removing it- FAs are monitored intensely for vandalism. There's a policy against this too, as was mentioned. --Wafulz 02:18, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

User:Doughan - my comments
editHi Cuivienen. I left a comment and more welcoming bits at User talk:Doughan, as I recognised the name, and after looking at his contributions list realised that he is the Doughan that I know. His article is used as a reference in the J. R. R. Tolkien article. I realise the edit you referred to in your welcome note might have looked like an experiment, but I can assure you it wasn't. Hope that clears up any confusion. Thanks. Carcharoth 22:53, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
steve.museum
editHi Cuivienen. Why did you speedy delete my page? I am not advertising this site, I don't work for these people. I am a library student and steve.museum is something a lot of people I go to school with are talking about. I thought it would be useful to have a wikipedia site on it. Thanks. --Sils660
Also, you say "The original version would have failed WP:WEB as a non-notable website. WP:NOT a soapbox for advertising. This incarnation is a recreation of deleted material." It's actually NOT a recreation of deleted material. This is the first page I've ever made so the first few times I posted it had 4 sentences. Now it is a page with context. I just think that nobody looked twice before doing a speedy delete. --Sils660
- Thank you for your message. Maybe you are right that it is not notable enough. Still, I doubt that I will be the last one to try and create the page. --Sils660Sils660 07:17, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
steve.museum
editwe need to do a deletion review on the recent speedy of steve museum. the content is clearly notable in the field of museum studies, museum informatices and museology. --Buridan 12:26, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
I just submitted the article for a deletion review. --Sils660Sils660 21:24, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
San Francisco - remove sprotect
editI trust you are going to watch the page and revert any vandalism? And you -- of course -- read this before removing the protection?--Paul 23:22, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
I see in the San Francisco page history that you did not hang around to revert the vandalism or reprotect as necessary. Mere minutes after you removed protection, the attacks on San Francisco resumed, and you were nowhere to be found to help. Thanks a lot. Please act more responsibly next time.--DaveOinSF 07:13, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- (Originally posted at User talk:DaveOinSF, copied here to complete the thread)
- The main Page FA is never semiprotected for very long. No, I could not stay oon my computer for hours reverting vandalism, but the rules are very explicit that Main Page FAs Are not protected indefinitely. We also don't want to discourage new contributors. Please be civil and don't take out your anger on others. —Cuiviénen 16:03, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- I can see from your response that you did not verify the facts of my message before discounting them. It was not hours. It was practically immediately after you removed the protection. Please show a little more concern as to the consequences of your actions.--DaveOinSF 18:08, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
