Welcome!
editHi there! Welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like it here and stick around. If you want, you can drop us a note at Wikipedia:New user log to introduce yourself.
A few tips before you start doing a lot of editing:
- A few basic rules: Try to write from a neutral point of view, be bold in editing pages, and use Wikiquette.
- A handy page for newcomers is the welcome page. The Wikipedia tutorial also gives a lot of basic info that will help get you oriented on Wikipedia. If you have any other questions about the project then check out Wikipedia:Help or Wikipedia:Where to ask a question.
- When you post something on a talk/discussion page, you can sign your name by using three tildes (" ~~~ ") for your username and four (" ~~~~ ") for your username and a timestamp.
- Remember to provide an edit summary when editing.
- If you ever find yourself with nothing to do on Wikipedia, have a look at the Community Portal, you'll find that there's always something happening.
If you have any comments, or just want to say hi, don't hesitate to write to me on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Happy editing! - mlpkr 19:06, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
I have a comment for you on the article discussion page. Please reply there. mlpkr 19:00, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your feedback. I added your pronounciation (akṣára). The disucssion page is at Talk:Akshara. Where did we mention that Akshara = a + ksha? mlpkr 13:26, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Editing and signing
editI think you are asking me there is no talk button on the page. You can always go to discussion page and "edit this page". You can also type four tildas to sign automatically with user name and timestamp. mlpkr 13:29, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Sampajanna edit
editHowdy - I just undid your edit of the Sampajanna article and I wanted to explain why. In the subsection discussing Buddhaghosa's commentary on the Satipatthana Sutta's concept of Sampajanna, you added:
- beyond reach (agocara): In Hindu philosophy, agocara is more used with reference to Supreme Self or paramAtma to indicate that it is beyond perception of senses, mind and intellect. For example vAcAmagocara means beyond description by words.
I assume what motivated this addition was that Buddhaghosa identifies that one aspect of Sampajanna involves gocara. (Perhaps you had done a search on gocara and found the Sampajanna article?) But, neither Buddhaghosa nor any other commentary that I know of regarding Sampajanna mentions agocara.
Frankly, I tried to think of a way to include your addition as an end note to the article's bullet on gocara, but I could not come up with any intellectually relevent way. So, I hope you can understand, I decided that it was best to undo your edit.
Please accept my gratitude for your sharing your fascinating knowledge, obvious enthusiasm and intellect with Wikipedia. I look forward to future collaborative edits. If you would like to discuss this change I made to your edit or anything else, please feel free to contact me at User_talk:Larry_Rosenfeld. - It sounds like from the e-mail that you sent me that there might be some contemporary Hindu commentary regarding Sampajanna. If so, please educate me more on the topic and I'm sure we could add the information to this (or perhaps another?) article in a meaningful way. (If you could cite a source, that would be beneficial too, of course.) I wish you well, Larry Rosenfeld (talk) 14:56, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
