Stats in football players' infoboxes and update of career stats

Hi.

When you update the stats in football players' infoboxes please remember that you should also update the timestamps as of when the stats are correct. This is done by updating |pcupdate= (or |club-update=) parameter when updating club appearances and goals, or |ntupdate= (or |nationalteam-update=) when updating national team appearances and goals. The easiest way to do this is to use five tildes, which automatically converts to the current time. For example |club-update=~~~~~.

When you update the career statistics please remember that you should also update that timestamp as well to a time when the stats are correct. This is done by manually updating the date above or below the statistics table. By doing this we show when the stats were last updated and it prevents other editors from accidentally updating the stats again.

Source for genres?

I've reverted your edits to Comedown Machine because you did not add a reliable source to support the additions. If you're going to add genres, you need to either add sources or indicate which sources already in the article support the change. —C.Fred (talk) 01:14, 2 April 2017 (UTC)

There have been many discussions as to how the sidebar or genre cloud in AllMusic articles is not a reliable source. Don't link to AllMusic expecting the genres there to be accurate. I'm not defaming anyone and I never intend to defame anyone, the only thing I did was put in the article that Zlatán Ibrahimovic is still playing Milan, because on football transfer websites he still appears as a Milan athlete. VictorVoorhees (talk) 17:02, 16 July 2022 (UTC)

According to the cited sources on the article his contract has expired, you did not add new citations supporting that he had signed a new one. So you are saying that he is signed to the club without any references to support it. You would need to add those websites as citations to make such edits. The reason you now recieved a strong warning for this is that you have been warned several times in the past about not using citations, which as evidenced by this edit you still are not doing. This is not a joke as it is in violation of the policy of biographies of living people, regardless if your intentions are good. Please see WP:CITE and start using references. I'm not questioning or disagreeing with the reversal that was made to the article, I understand that there were errors in my edit, I just said that I don't have or intend to defame or vandalize Wikipedia articles. I know Wikipedia's policies and I know how to use references, and I've even referenced some articles I've edited recently. I respect the warning, but I think the threat of blocking my account is unnecessary. I guarantee that I will be more careful when editing the articles and I will commit to placing more references. Like I said, the warning was blunt because it's not your first reminder. If you had never been notified about it before it would have been a much more gentle notice. It was not meant as a threat (I am not even an administrator and could not block your account, though I have reported editors who make persistently unsourced edits and it is a problem that can easily lead to blocks), it's more a warning of what might happen if you continue along the same line. There are some administrators who have zero tolerance for such edits (espescially when it comes to the biographies of living people policy) who could see that you have prior warnings and block your account on the spot. It's better to start following the policy and start using references, which I'm glad to hear you want to commit to. You already have the skill and experience, so now it's just a matter of making it a habit to follow policy.
