Notability of TM Soundararajan

A tag has been placed on TM Soundararajan, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (below the existing db tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Mhking 21:02, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

A tag has been placed on TM Soundararajan, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article is a repost of either already posted material, or of material that was previously deleted in a deletion debate, such as articles for deletion. If you can indicate how TM Soundararajan is different from all other articles, or if you can indicate why this article should not be deleted, I advise you to place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article, and also put a note on Talk:TM Soundararajan saying why this article should stay. An admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 4 under General criteria. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. We welcome your help in trying to improve Wikipedia, and we ask you to follow these instructions. Mhking 21:21, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please stop. If you continue to ignore our policies by introducing inappropriate pages, such as TM Soundararajan, to Wikipedia, you will be blocked. Mhking 21:58, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

The article keeps being deleted as about a non-notable individual, yet you keep recreating it. Your links do not establish independent and empirical notability, so as far as I can determine, it remains non-notable, and as such, eligible for speedy deletion. In addition, the fact that it gets deleted, and then recreated multiple times by you, is grounds for the warnings I have made. If it is deleted again, and you recreate it once again, I will report you to the appropriate admins for your disruptive behavior. --Mhking 22:08, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Cantor's first uncountability proof

edit

@AxelBoldt - In your example, why can't the boundary point be the largest rational in A or the smallest rational in B? Then, all rationals less than the boundary will be in A and all rationals greater than the boundary will be in B. Or am I misunderstanding the meaning of the word "every point" as "every point in R"? Vijay (talk) 08:36, 11 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

There's an explicit exercise in Walter Rudin's Principles of Mathematical Analysis that asks the student to show for any rational number less than √2 how to find a larger rational number that is still less than √2, and similarly for those larger than √2. Michael Hardy (talk) 02:06, 24 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
