License tagging for Image:Xleasyganttv2.4.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Xleasyganttv2.4.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Notability of XL-EasyGantt

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on XL-EasyGantt, by Renesis, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because XL-EasyGantt seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting XL-EasyGantt, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate XL-EasyGantt itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 17:01, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

XL Easy-Gantt

Hi, the reason it is different from the other applications (some of them anyway), is that it does not say how it is notable, in other words, encyclopedic. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a software directory. Many more of the applications need to be cleaned up, and merely having an article doesn't make them any more valid. Wikipedia shouldn't be used for advertising; there are many software directories available if that is your purpose. -- Renesis (talk) 16:44, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I was about to reply to the message on my talk page but Renesis has said what I was going to. If you can explain why this software is notable, the page can be undeleted. Mallanox 18:41, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Vikerbandt, I never claimed that those other articles are notable. In fact, I said that many of them need to be cleaned up as well. I urge you to read WP:CORP and WP:SOFTWARE, which are the requirements for notability for corporations and for software. Notability to you is different than Wikipedia's sense of "notability". You are also welcome as any other user to tag any article for deletion that may not be notable, using speedy deletion or standard deletion processes. Thanks. -- Renesis (talk) 13:11, 8 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
