Although current scholarship may indicate that Defoe did not write the text, the quotation from Bey DOES mention Defoe's name. Defying Ocean's End

On your recent post to the Defying Ocean's End page, I had originally thought the same thing as I had read the book you refer to several years before Defying Ocean's End emerged. However, it turns out that the two names are a coincidence. The name actually comes from a prior Conservation International agenda-building conference entitled "Defying Nature's End". That conference focused entirely on terrestrial biodiversity. So, when they decided to put together a similar process for the ocean, the name was switched to "Defying Ocean's End".
