Your most recent edit on this page removed the name Daniel Defoe and replaced it with "A person". Although current scholarship may indicate that Defoe did not write the text, the quotation from Bey DOES mention Defoe's name. The quotation should be allowed to stand intact with a note (as already included) mentioning that Defoe was not the actual author. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:18, 6 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ah, my mistake, wasn't paying close enough attention. We still ought to tweak the wording to reflect that Bey is wrong, though. Vincent pearse (talk) 19:32, 8 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Defying Ocean's End

edit

On your recent post to the Defying Ocean's End page, I had originally thought the same thing as I had read the book you refer to several years before Defying Ocean's End emerged. However, it turns out that the two names are a coincidence. The name actually comes from a prior Conservation International agenda-building conference entitled "Defying Nature's End". That conference focused entirely on terrestrial biodiversity. So, when they decided to put together a similar process for the ocean, the name was switched to "Defying Ocean's End". I am going to undo your post, but feel free to put something in along the lines of 'similar themes'. WildernessForever (talk) 07:53, 18 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Ahoy, Captain! I've just noticed, it looks like this edit of yours was based on an old version of the page, the result being that it also undid a few edits. Just thought you'd want to know. AlphaMikeOmega (talk) 18:38, 18 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
