September 2007
editWelcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent contribution removed content from Clothes Over Bros. Please be careful when editing pages and do not remove content from Wikipedia without a good reason, which should be specified in the edit summary. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you would like to experiment again, please use the sandbox. Thank you. When there is a template added to an article, it automatically places the article on lists of articles that need help. Then other Wikipedia users can come and help clean up the article and improve it. If I didn't think this was a good topic that could be made into a good article I would have tagged it for deletion, but instead I tagged it to get some help in development. You are very welcome here on Wikipedia and I want to see your work develop in collaboration with the whole community. Thanks. OfficeGirl 22:14, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
Don't Give Up
editIt is my opinion that the article on Clothes Over Bros was deleted against Wikipedia policy, and I have contacted the Administrator to give my reasons. If you are willing to do the work, you had a good idea for a Wikipedia article, and I want to encourage you!OfficeGirl 22:23, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- There is a procedure for re-starting the article. Sorry to give you this "baptism by fire" on all the rules and regulations, but simply re-starting the article would make it look like you don't care about Wikipedia rules, and we don't want the other users and especially the Admins to get that idea. That's not you. Let's get a response from the Admin who deleted the article, and in the mean time look up things on news sites like www.findarticles.com and news.yahoo.com for news articles that mention the clothing line. Citing WP:RS reliable sources is going to be important for this article.OfficeGirl 22:35, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
Also, read this: Wikipedia:Your first article. ThanksOfficeGirl 22:38, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
Great School Project!
editThat's a very good school project. You can learn a lot here. Maybe it will be easier to start an article that other Wikipedia users already are hoping for. So, let's think about your interests: what country are your ancestors from? have you ever traveled to another country or is there another country you are interested in? Who is your favorite person in history (there's probably already an article about that person, but we may find something that is related)? Do you cook? sew? speak any other languages besides English? What books do you read? Name a few things in response to those questions and I'll show you how to find the lists. And while we are waiting on Admin Deb's response, you might want to put something on your User:Vintagevixen userpage/.OfficeGirl 22:53, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
Ideas for New Articles
editThere are lots of suggestions for new articles on Wikipedia. Here are some of them: Here's a couple suggestions from Wikipedia:Requested articles/Biographies
- George M. Woodwell - World-renowned biologist and ecologist, partially responsible for the ban of DDT
Google search for him here:[1]
- Arthur P. Pedrick (inventor)
Google search for him here: [2]
Here's an ice cream article that was requested at Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Cream
This one is from Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/Grocer's Encyclopedia
- erbswurst — an important army ration, originated in Germany. it consists of a mixture of pea-pulp, ...
For some basics, look here: Pea soup#Germany Also, one of the themes in the German drama Woyzeck is that the main character, a poor soldier, is part of an experiment where a scientist forces him to eat nothing but peas, and he suffers in health--but the scientist just doesn't care.OfficeGirl 00:01, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
This one comes from Wikipedia:Catholic Encyclopedia topics/C. The great thing about using the Catholic Encyclopedia as a source, is that it is public domain, and you don't get in trouble by copying sentences from there.
Chusai search Catholic Encyclopedia for this source here [3]
If you use the Catholic Encyclopedia then you write {{catholic}} at the bottom of the article and then it produces: This article incorporates text from a publication now in the public domain: Herbermann, Charles, ed. (1913). Catholic Encyclopedia. New York: Robert Appleton Company. {{cite encyclopedia}}

Happy editing and good luck with your project! OfficeGirl 23:41, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
Brooke Davis article
editHey, I'm stopping by your talk page to say good job on cleaning up the Brooke Davis article. Your edits of grammar-cleanup are serving that article well. Any other improvements you can make to that article would be great as well, of course. See you around. Flyer22 00:00, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Clothes Over Bros
editHi. I'm sorry that you were disappointed about the deletion of this page. However, the fact that the article met the criteria for speedy deletion doesn't mean that you can't re-create it. If you do, you will need to show that it is a topic that is notable, not just something that is mentioned in a TV series. You need to be clear on why it is notable. I will try to explain to you what I was doing when I deleted it. Because I'm an admin, I have to spend a lot of time (which I would prefer to spend on other things) deleting articles that are created by newish users. In some cases their intention is malicious, in others it is just misguided. There is so much vandalism going on that there is not usually much time to stop and argue the case with each user. You will see from my talk page that I get a lot of abuse because of the attention that I pay to this admin duty, but you will also see from my contributions that I take a lot of trouble to welcome new users and point them in the right direction, and also that I often replace "speedy deletion" tags with less drastic tags, so as to give the user an opportunity to improve them. Contrary to what User:OfficeGirl believes, speedy deletion does not have to be preceded by tagging - tagging is done by users who don't have the power to delete the article. If you would like to re-create it, all you have to do is start again, but this time make it clear that you are talking about a real and major clothing brand, not a fictional one. Good luck! Orphaned non-free media (Image:CharlotteYork.jpg)
editThanks for uploading Image:CharlotteYork.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 04:32, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
