List of Jats

edit

Hi, you seem to be struggling at List of Jats. What is the name of the person whom you are trying to add to the list? Do you know if we have an article for them? Do you know if they have self-identified as being a Jat? - Sitush (talk) 17:01, 15 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your note here. There are several problems with the content. Firstly, we do not seem to have an article for that wrestler; secondly, you were trying to use another Wikipedia article as a source and we cannot do that for reasons explained at WP:CIRCULAR. Finally, there doesn't seem to be any verification that he is/was a Jat, and that is what we need to be sourced. If he is still alive then the source must show him self-identifying as a Jat also, not merely someone else saying he is one. Hope this helps. - Sitush (talk) 17:22, 15 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

I can share news papers clips but they don't mention he is Jat, But they do mention his winnings
Thanks but without some confirmation of his Jat allegiance it is not appropriate to add him to that list. I've seen your more recent post on my talk page and I notice that he does appear to have gained various awards but I cannot find anything about him using Google search, perhaps because sources are not in English. Sources do not have to be in English but they do have to be reliable. If we had sufficient reliable sources that discussed him (that is, did more than just mention his name in passing) then we could perhaps create an article for him based on the fact that he is notable because of the news coverage etc and the awards. I am not sure if that is the case, however.
Do any of the newspaper clippings you mention use the English language? I'm not able to read any of the Indian languages, sorry, but I could ask around at WT:INB, which is a talk page for the English Wikipedia India project that is used by many people proficient in a range of languages. - Sitush (talk) 18:00, 15 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
I have left a note at Wikipedia_talk:Noticeboard_for_India-related_topics#Sources_for_Indian_wrestler_bio. Hopefully someone will be able to help. - Sitush (talk) 18:07, 15 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

The newspaper clipings are in hindi not in english and there are many of them mentioning his winnings and his other works i can share them if those clips can be used

And yes, there are many news or facts that are available about India and Indian people and this is normal.

here is one more reference for his name Krishan Phalwan and let me tell you that all the people mention in this link are Jats [1]

I'm afraid that Wikimapia isn't reliable because pretty much anyone can edit it. To be honest, I wouldn't put too much effort into trying to assert his Jat status. I think it is far more important for us to try to get an article about him into this encyclopaedia. We have plenty of Hindi speakers who edit here and so hopefully someone can step forward to work with you towards that goal. - Sitush (talk) 19:36, 15 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, So can I start an article about him? And adding the news paper clips as references?

here his name is mentioned Krishan Bhaproda as in India a person can be called by his village name.[2] this news article is in hindi

Hi, you may not have noticed but someone who is competent in Hindi has replied regarding the Garima Times story that you link to above - see here. It doesn't sound as if the source is of much use, sorry. - Sitush (talk) 10:12, 17 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
