editHello, I'm Jim1138. I noticed that you made a change to an article, David McLaughlin (bluegrass), but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Jim1138 (talk) 03:32, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

Notice of conflict of interest
editGiven your message on my talk page here, you have a conflict of interest between See WP:SELFPROMOTE and (below) WP:SELFCITE
Hello, Vka2b. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page David McLaughlin, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.
- As you have a conflict of interest, It would be best if you use an wp:edit request See wp:Simple conflict of interest edit request
- Per wp:verifiability, any significant content must wp:cite a wp:reliable source. See help:referencing for beginners - try wp:RefToolbar/2.0.
- Use of your own knowledge (or McLaughlin's) is wp:original research and is not verifiable and "must not be used".
- Removal of citations is generally frowned upon without very good reason. i.e. it is not a wp:reliable source, or does not support the content.
- Dead links should be maintained see wp:KDL. Dead links should be flagged with the wp:template
{{dead link|date= November 2018}}
. Or its shortcut{{dl|date= November 2018}}
- Cited content which fits wp:BLP and wp:DUE should not be removed even if it is "not liked". This is often an issue with a wp:COI editor.
- Avoid flowery, "puffed up", content per wp:puffery.
Thank you Jim1138 (talk) 21:18, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
