Some clearing-up

edit

Vlad it's VASCO from PORTUGAL. Hello there!

Just checked some of your history and contributions and there was a reference that read "Moving these two to archive1. I don't need this guy screaming at me on my talk page. Failed to get my point across". First of all, i was not screaming at you, you did nothing to me, i was only frustrated by all the people that enter WIKIPEDIA and spoil the fun for everybody else who tries to read whatever. Sport seems one the most "fun to vandalize" subjects, because of the point i made previously. I said i was not angry, but you, with that remark on your history, seem to be precisely that at me.

HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU SOON, GREETINGS, VASCO (User 217.129.67.28)

P.S. Capital letters do not always mean (at least in my book) one is shouting...

I'm sorry about that. I was having somewhat of a bad day, and felt somewhat frustrated. I'm glad you felt the need to set me straight. I hope you continue to do the good work you've been doing. vlad§inger tlk 16:27, 29 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

PEACE FOREVER!!!

edit

Hi VLAD it's VASCO, thank you for being "on my side". I wish you pleasant "stay" at WIKIPEDIA and a nice life overall, man!!!

Wish i knew how to insert smileys to upgrade this note...SEE YOU AROUND FROM PORTUGAL THANKS!!!

VASCO AMARAL

Photo

edit

During Zhou Tong (archer)'s stint as the featured article, a discussion arose over the poor quality of the lead photo. Since you were one of the editors who did not like the old photo, I have just now replaced it with a line drawing from his biographical comic book. Someone had previously changed the photo, but it was too blurry and was no better than the original. Tell me what you think of the change. --Ghostexorcist 04:42, 1 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I like it. Thanks. vlad§inger tlk 23:10, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
An admin editor suggested that I get someone from Wikipedia:Graphic Lab/Images to improve to trace a pic of Zhou from the pic of him surrounded by his students since it's license free and the other is a copyrighted picture from a comic book. Apparently, FA articles can only have license free photos at the lead. I am a pretty good artists myself and could easily come up with a workable pic, but I am far too busy to do so at the moment. However, I still like the current one. --Ghostexorcist 23:14, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ah, regulations... You mean this image? I don't know, tracing might be a bit difficult since it's marred by some camera shake. I think I'll have a go though. No guarantees. vlad§inger tlk 23:21, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that is the one. I agree that it is too blurry. One thing that I request is that only Zhou be traced since the illustration is from Yue Fei's memorial tomb, meaning Zhou is not the focus of the photo. Other pics on the page can be referenced when you draw the face. --Ghostexorcist 23:34, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, if I find that I'm unable to do this, I'll put the request to Wikipedia:Graphic Lab/Images to improve as the admin suggested. vlad§inger tlk 23:38, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I did the abve. It was silly of me to accept the task in the first place. vlad§inger tlk 02:08, 7 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image improvement

edit

Have you seen the discussion on the Graphic lab Zhou Tong image recently? I think they did an amazing job rendering the body, but the face needs some work. I just posted a comment on the page with a link to an improved version of the face. I haven't uploaded it to wikipedia yet because there are still some color issues, but it's looks better than the expressionless version before it. --Ghostexorcist 23:47, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't know if you saw some of the additions I made to the original svg without a face, but I have improved it based on a closer study of the traditional painting. I made the mouth bigger and only showed the upper row of teeth as this is how they are in the painting. I put ines in the beard, but someone with inkscape might be able to soften them or add more. The area around the cheeks and mustache did not stretch down as far as the painting, so I fixed that. Tell me what you think. --Ghostexorcist 00:16, 12 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that's a much more natural expression. I like it. vlad§inger tlk 17:32, 12 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

FMCSD and FMHS

edit

I've nominated Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District and Fayetteville-Manlius High School to be reviewed for good article status. We probably won't get it, but I'd like to see if we're given any suggestions. In the least, it would be a good goal to have. Sinisterminister 06:21, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ah, good. I'll get some pictures up ASAP. vlad§inger tlk 14:12, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Good pictures, please. The one you have up there right now is pretty awful. No offense. Sinisterminister 22:44, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
What, the one shot I took at sunset from a moving car? vlad§inger tlk 01:32, 25 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes, haha, which is precisely the problem. The new pics are good. Very descriptive, thanks!! I just sized them down a bit and revised some of the captions Sinisterminister 06:45, 25 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
While I'm uploading my pictures, I'm thinking that it would be good if we had a historical image of the first site for the history section. vlad§inger tlk 02:01, 25 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
That would be great! I sure as hell don't have any, and I'm not within range of any of the local libraries or historical societies. Not sure what the process would be of getting permission to use anything like that on here. Would you know? Sinisterminister 06:45, 25 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
FMHS was denied, no surprise. but I urge you to read the review on the discussion page. Thanks. Sinisterminister 06:07, 27 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Graphics Lab Announcement

edit

Attention All Wikigraphists!

edit

As you may or may have not noticed, the Graphics Lab pages have gone under a massive cleanup by User:DTR, User:Rugby471 and various others (sorry if I missed you out). Some of the things that have happened are.

  • All pages in the Graphics Lab have had, where sensible, templates, substituting elements. For example, the main Lab page was a large chunk of around 100 lines of pure code. It was not very easy to edit the main page, so the various sections of it (eg links, welcome) have been separated. Therefore the main page is now only around 20 lines of user friendly text. If you wish to edit the main page, you must look on the main page for the correct template to edit. (Fore example if I wanted to edit the links section, I would go to Wikipedia:Graphic Lab/links and edit the text there). This has been done to all of the pages, in an attempt to make them more user-friendly.

  • As you were notified of early, the Wikigraphist Abilities page has been set up and has been beginning to get populated. If you haven't already setup your own entry, you are advised to go and do so now.

  • Due to a comment from User:DTR. A template for Graphics Lab announcements has been created. It is at Wikipedia:Graphic Lab/announcement. If you ever need to issue a message to Wikigraphists, please use this template in the form

{{Wikipedia:Graphic Lab/announcement|message ~~~~}}

Where message is the announcement you wish to issue.

  • On the Images to Improve Page, an issue was noticed where that when requests were completed, people were adding {{Did}} but forgetting to add <!--werdnabot-archive--&gt so that the request would be archived. Therefore a template has been created (yes another one!) to help with this. When a user creates a new request instead of putting the usual code, they shall put

{{Request Title|title=Lorem Ipsum|done=false}}. Now when a request is completed, all you will have to do is change done to true

done=true

and the template will add the {{did}} template and also <!--werdnabot-archive--> to the title, so it will get archived.

As always, if you experience any issues with the new changes, or are just a bit confused, please don't hesitate to contact me or DTR on our talk pages.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:First Monday Logo.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:First Monday Logo.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:40, 5 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Spam in Mad Dog Multimedia

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Mad Dog Multimedia, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Mad Dog Multimedia is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Mad Dog Multimedia, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot (talk) 22:30, 25 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Huh? Spam? It was just a stub...not worth arguing over, so okay... vlad§inger tlk

Big thanks !

edit

A big thanks for your tweak on Tutorial-cartography_(basic).svg , I think the final version will help map creation and wikicartographers' beginning greatly. After my big effort to create this tuto, a big thanks to you for this correction, I quickly overviewed it : that's really better ! I also appreciated when I seen you display good initiative by changing many sentences and expanding some explanations with your knowledge. This was completly my aim : make a wiki-SVG-tutorial, first started by one big effort, then improve by every cartographers when better explanations are possible, exactly like a wiki page ^-^y . For all this : a big thanks to you.

As I said, I will let other cartographer read it and expand it if they want. I will probably create the missing sections separately on my PC, then, in one or 2 weeks, I will include them and make some structural update (change some sections' order). I hope the version 1.0 (complete and corrected) will be available for August 2008 :]

Speedy deletion of Image:PFLP flag.svg

edit

A tag has been placed on Image:PFLP flag.svg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:PFLP flag.svg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. SVG image on Plectrum article

I admire the SVG image of a harpsichord jack you contributed to Plectrum. However, I believe that what you marked as "Tounge" is actually spelled "tongue". -- 65.78.13.238 (talk) 02:05, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Vladsinger! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 264 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. RHEL edits

edit

Hi there, I undid the changes you made to the RHEL article. It was quite funny actually, you took away the "copyedit" tag, but at the same time added a redundant "the" ("the Red Hat supported the Fedora project" -- whoops!) Maybe there's a better tag to use than "copyedit", but the article should certainly be revised -- certainly in the jumbled mess of an introduction. My revert also caught two subsequent edits, but the second of these was a revert back to your edit anyway.--Rfsmit (talk) 15:31, 27 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
