University Oaks folklore

University of North Texas
edit- Flagship vs. system vs. emerging flagship: The definition of flagship is a bit obtuse, and, no doubt, has a regional meaning for the systems of UT and TAMU. But official publications by UNT use the term ad nauseam; to wit: University of North Texas, Academic Plan. If you go to UNT's site and enter "Flagship" in the search box, you'll see it. If I were working on the UNT entry, I would focus on tightening up the academic aspects. Many of its contributors seem to have an idée fixe on social and spirit aspects. I would have posted this to Runfellow's talk page, but I don't think he/she has one. You may remove this comment after you have read it. Eurodog 18:24, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- I agree with you regarding the vagueness in definition of what constitutes a "flagship" university, especially in the State of Texas. Maybe we could use the term "system flagship" for North Texas, Houston and Texas Tech, to differentiate these campuses from "state flagships" like Texas and Texas A&M. Wikipedia already seems to do this in its Education_in_Texas entry. Vox Univoaks (talk) 05:00, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
