Harry Cook
editPlease wait until a reliable source that we can access is found. User:Fred Bauder Talk 19:45, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
Hi Fred. Thanks for that. As a new user I haven't worked out how this all works yet. I assumed that by directly quoting the article verbatim from the newspaper Hexham Courant that it would be acceptable. Harry Cook has been remanded in custody and is to appear in Crown Court where a more severe sentence may be imposed. This may also allow time for more of his child victims to come forward. Speedy deletion nomination of General descriptive
editYou may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.
Thank you.
A tag has been placed on General descriptive, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article that does not provide sufficient context to identify its subject. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the article's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. GILO A&E⇑ 10:57, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Your recent edits
editHello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 17:29, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
- If you go into your preferences, and scroll down to the "Signature" part, and please a) remove anything that may be in the box to the right of Signature: (ie, leave the box blank), and b) make sure the option underneath that, which says "Treat the above as wiki markup", is not checked. And then 'save'.
- Hopefully that'll fix it. You could test it by going to WP:SANDBOX and trying to 'sign'. Chzz ► 17:56, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for File:Courant_typical_front.pdf
editThanks for uploading or contributing to File:Courant_typical_front.pdf. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Melesse (talk) 22:34, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

editThis is the last time I will warn you and then I will request administrative action against you. Stop adding that content to the article - seek consensus and support on the talkpage. Off2riorob (talk) 09:06, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
Edit warring at Harry Cook
edit You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Harry Cook. Users are expected to collaborate with others and avoid editing disruptively.
In particular, the three-revert rule states that:
- Making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block.
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to edit war, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. - Off2riorob (talk) 10:29, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
Warchdog2011 - I appreciate what you're trying to do, but... for controversial edits (such as these), please suggest the edit on the talk page of the article, before actually making it.
IF you're in any doubt, just ask for help - which you can do by putting {{helpme}} right here, on your own user talk page, followed by a question. Cheers, Chzz ► 13:04, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
+I just added a bit more on the article talk, re. WP:UNDUE. Cheers, Chzz ► 13:13, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
...and please, use edit summaries - it really helps. Take a look at the history of that article - notice every edit I made, I explained it there. That helps others see what I'm doing and why - which avoids lots of hassle.
There's an option in your preferences under the 'editing' tab which says, Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary - you might want to 'check' that option. Cheers, Chzz ► 13:22, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
