editWelcome!
Hello, Wellingtoncat, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- Tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}}
on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!
Having prowled around houses in North Hobart, Sandy Bay in a previous lifetime - I was astonished to see no one has welcomed you! Enjoy it all! (One of the more unusual experiences of mine very many moons ago was listening to a waso violinist play danny boy while a local sang to it - in one of the now decommisioned Queenstown, Tasmania hotels.) Sigh SatuSuro 12:26, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks SatuSuro!!! I really love the philosophy of Wikipedia, and I'm really pleased that it seems to attract some great people to it! Thanks for your welcome and advice!! (Wellingtoncat 21:54, 7 December 2006 (UTC))
- Glad you like it - never let the grumps, bears or tigers get to you - there's enough of other types around to make it a good experience. SatuSuro 05:25, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
On the prowl
editGrowl - some your arts need more than what they are - they need refs - growl (tabby territory issues there) - and third party refs to survive tagging - needs some work to save then the tagging - websites, articles, books, - find em ref em and fix em - growl (smile) - in other words cheshire cat here - confused? find a ref SatuSuro 02:39, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- Big problem is if they are not to hand (refs) - it might not be possible - like a walk to the state ref in hobart. To technically avoid the larger growlers in the upper reaches of the food chain of the great goldfishbowl of wikipedia :) one must have a category, a project tag and a few refs to keep them from licking their lips and scratching (muffled growlpurr and sudden twist of the tail) SatuSuro 07:27, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- screeching scrowl howl across the nullarbor and ringing through the double glassed canberra windoze - a possible solution to the articles with lack of something or others - an example - scrowl scratch scramble etc etc to the tune of we'll all got together when we go .. etc http://protocat.nla.gov.au/Search/Home?lookfor=don+kay&type=all&filter%5B%5D=&submit=Find - just imagine its in canberra and its called protocat - meeewous? SatuSuro 12:44, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
an deres toomuch white space inda Constantine Koukias articel - the awards/comps could be compressed somewhat for its own sake so to speak SatuSuro 12:51, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs
editHello Wellingtoncat! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 5 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:
- Robert Jarman - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
Thanks!--DASHBot (talk) 07:02, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
Please see...
edit... Talk:IHOS Music Theatre and Opera, Talk:Hobart Chamber Orchestra, and Talk:The Priest's Passion concerning text which was removed as copyright violation from these articles. You might want to check other articles to which you have made contributions to see if any such text remains in them. Also, you need to provide references demonstrating the notability of some of the people and works you have written about. Some like Hobart Chamber Orchestra are completely unreferenced. The others have only primary sources as references. Some of them are at serious risk of deletion if references cannot be provided showing significant coverage of them in reliable published sources which are independent of the subject, especially Nicholas Dewey and The Priest's Passion. Nicholas Dewey is especially serious because you have added personal information about a living person which has no supporting references at at all.Voceditenore (talk) 13:00, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
- See also Robert Jarman, which has no independent sources at all, especially considering that it makes claims like: "...he quickly established himself as one the leading entities within the Tasmanian arts industry". Voceditenore (talk) 13:05, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
- There are also problems with Tasmanian Composers Collective. See Talk:Tasmanian Composers Collective for details. Voceditenore (talk) 16:52, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
- Re Nicholas Dewey: It seems that this too is a verbatim paste from a copyright website: http://www.freewebs.com/daylightrobbery/aboutus.htm. See the talk page for links to guidance on this issue. You really must make sure you do not copy and paste any more material from other websites into Wikipedia. Voceditenore (talk) 17:11, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
Classical music edit-a-thon
editHi Wellingtoncat, a few of us are organising a classical music edit-a-thon between 8-14 October with the theme Music of France, to coincide with the ABC Classic FM countdown. There will also be a meetup in Sydney, so we are using Wikipedia:Meetup/Sydney/October 2012 as our main discussion page. A lot of the hard work will be done online, somehow. I hope you'll join us. Speedy deletion nomination of Nicholas Dewey
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Nicholas Dewey requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. —teb728 t c 05:00, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
