c/e Was: "less than 4 fathoms (7 m) deep" now is: "less than 7 fathoms (7 m) deep" A fathom is slightly less than a meter, even in 1798, so the old numbers were wrong. The battle took place beyond the 4 fathom shoal line, so 7 fathoms is a good estimate of the depth for the shallower area of battle.
