Remember to always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes (~~~~)
at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to this (your talk) page, and a timestamp.
To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own private sandbox for use any time. Perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put
{{My sandbox}}
on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.Sincerely, Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:13, 2 May 2013 (UTC) (Leave me a message)

DYK for Rock Drill (Jacob Epstein)
editOn 14 May 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Rock Drill (Jacob Epstein), which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Epstein's Rock Drill, a vivid illustration of the greatest function of life, was destroyed and recreated? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Rock Drill (Jacob Epstein). You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |
Boleskine House Foundation SCIO moved to draftspace
editIt appears that you may have a conflict of interest with the subject of Draft:Boleskine House Foundation SCIO, and as such you should submit this article to be published through the Articles for Creation process. Before editing the article further, please first disclose on your user page and on the article's Talk page whether you have received money to write this or other articles on Wikipedia, or if you have any other kind of conflict of interest concerning the subject. From reading through the article, it appears that you've also provided far too many references to primary sources; Wikipedia articles must be referenced primarily to secondary and tertiary sources, in order to avoid performing original research. I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. Before submitting, you should make sure that the article is fully compliant with Wikipedia’s neutrality and verifiability policies, as well as our notability guidelines. When you’re ready, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. signed, Rosguill talk 00:14, 4 February 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Rossguill, thank you for your comments. I will make my user page and change sources in line with your comments. I'm not a member of the Boleskine House Foundation and I've not been paid or asked to write the article but I'll lay it all out on my user page which I should have made years ago! Sorry for my blunder. Back in 2013 Andy Mabett aka Pigsonthewing delivered training in writing articles to me as librarian at The New Art Gallery Walsall but that was a long time ago now. I volunteered to write the Boleskine House article because of the previous training I had. The article is all my own research albeit it will too much reliance on primary sources but I can fix that. Thank you and sorry again; I will fix it! :)

- @Rosguill: Can you point to a policy making the use of AfC mandatory? AFAICT, it's purely optional. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:40, 5 February 2020 (UTC)
- Pigsonthewing, points 4a and 4b of WP:DRAFTIFY (and to a lesser extent 2d) establish that draftify can be used this way. It's not mandatory, and if Wendy wanted to refuse to comply with this process that wouldn't be grounds for sanctions or anything, but we are encouraged to encourage editors who are inexperienced or have COIs to use AfC in this manner. signed, Rosguill talk 17:04, 5 February 2020 (UTC)
- @Rosguill: No, I asked you specifically for a policy; the page to which you refer is explicitly not one, as stated clearly in its heading template:
"This page is intended to provide additional information about concepts in the page(s) it supplements. This page is not one of Wikipedia's policies or guidelines, as it has not been thoroughly vetted by the community."
. Given your acknowledgement that AfC is not mandatory, your earlier assertion that "you should submit this article to be published through the Articles for Creation process" is very misleading. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 19:18, 5 February 2020 (UTC)- Pigsonthewing, how else are we supposed to encourage new and/or COI editors to use that process? signed, Rosguill talk 19:19, 5 February 2020 (UTC)
- @Rosguill: The clue is In the word "encourage". Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 19:46, 5 February 2020 (UTC)
- Pigsonthewing, touché, I'll amend any future draftification statements to make it more clear that it is an optional process. signed, Rosguill talk 19:50, 5 February 2020 (UTC)

February 2020: How to sign your discussion page posts
editHello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Thank you.--Quisqualis (talk) 17:27, 4 February 2020 (UTC)

Question regarding your conflict of interest
editWhen do you plan to declare it?--Quisqualis (talk) 17:47, 4 February 2020 (UTC)
- @Quisqualis: Perhaps you could read users' user-pages in future, before posting such passive-aggressive nonsense. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:36, 5 February 2020 (UTC)
