Comment on Articles for creation/Rachel Barney

edit

Not every professor is a notable person. In fact, most are just average people, no matter how many papers they have written, and they won't have an encyclopedia entry. A list of a person's own publications doesn't make them notable. What have other people, organizations, or books said about her or her work? What effect has her work had on the academic community or on her field of study?

That said Rachel Barney was awarded a Canada Research Chair, Tier 2, in 2003[1] and was renewed in 2008.[2] Tier 2 awards are for are for "exceptional emerging researchers, acknowledged by their peers as having the potential to lead in their fields". It has just expired (can only be renewed once), and its remarkable how fast the info about previous people gets removed from their site. Google has the tantalizing phrase "Dr. Rachel Barney, the Canada Research Chair in Classical Philosophy, has new interpretations of many aspects of this extraordinarily rich and influential ...". She may not yet be a leader in her field (thus no Wikipedia article yet), but she may have been doing things in the last 8 years that show that she is. That's what we need to see.
