Edit summaries

edit

Hi, I noticed you often edit without leaving an edit summary. Please use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances of an edit being misunderstood. Even something short is better than nothing. Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account, you can give yourself a reminder by setting Preferences → Editing →   Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary (or the default undo summary), and then click the "Save" button. Thanks! — W.andrea (talk) 19:17, 3 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Please discuss instead of reverting

edit

To resolve content disputes when your edits are reverted, don't revert back, instead, use the talk page to discuss the changes and establish consensus among editors. This guideline is explained at WP:BRD. See also WP:REVTALK (paraphrased: don't use edit summaries to discuss).

I'd be happy to reply to your latest edit summary on Help:IPA/French if you posted it (or something like it) on the talk page.

Misleading edit summary

edit

Your most recent edit to Help:IPA/French did not describe all the changes you made. In the future, please make sure your edit summary is descriptive enough. Not doing so could be considered disruptive. It can help to break up large edits into multiple small ones, as I mentioned, so that each edit only changes one thing at a time and each edit summary only needs to cover one change. Thanks. — W.andrea (talk) 00:18, 10 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
