Pachamama

Hello Wilhelmy, welcome to Wikipedia. You added an image to Pachamama apparently depicting the "eyes of Pachamama" in Machu Picchu. Searching the inernet, I could not find any website or book even mentioning "ojos de Pachamama" or "eyes of Pachamama". Therefore I removed the image from the article. If you want to keep the image in the article, you must add evidence for your statement. Tourist guides often give incorrect information that sounds interesting to tourists, and I am afraid this could be true also in this case. -- PhJ (talk) 21:44, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

Hello, I have forwarded this question to the Department of Culture of the Peruvian Embassy who answered that the Peruvian historian and archaeologist Federico Kauffmann Doig interprets the sculpture as "Water Mirrors for observing the sky" in his book "Machu Picchu - Inca Treasure" which is cited on his Spanish Wikipedia page as "Machu Picchu. I am glad to inform you that ISBN of my book Machu Picchu is the following: 9972-40-341-6. Concerning the interpretation of the "Water Mirrors" as "Eyes of Pachamama" maybe it is right or it is wrong. It is only an interpretation of several. But it has some means because Pachamama is always waiting to be fertilice by the water of what I call the Water God, the most important divinity in all Peru materialiced in the Apus or sacred mountains. My interpretation is limited. I think the Water Mirrors are there for the cult of the water and as mirrors, maybe to vaticine the wether. Something very important for the farmers because the permanent climate changes done by the El Niño phenomen that are vividly present throught the History of Peru. Yes, that's correct: I'm the Wilhelmy of the Prize, who also takes care of Wikipedia (Otto Klung has been dead for many years). By the way, Monika Aidelsburger will receive the award on November 18, 2021. She already has a more detailed entry on Wikipedia in English than in German. Great!
