Vandalism report removed - why?
I have filed a vandalism report to WP:Administrator_intervention_against_vandalism, but your bot has simply removed it. Why??? Nageh (talk) 13:47, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
- Please see the thread above, thanks. Sorry for the inconvenience. Will (aka Wimt) 19:58, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
Edit conflict problem?
Apparently helperbot 7 got into an edit conflict with me [1] and removed my post just before it. Woogee (talk) 20:00, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, yes this is a bug with Mediawiki not reporting edit conflicts occasionally. Unfortunately due to AIV being such a high volume page it does happen more often there than elsewhere (see above threads too). Thanks. Will (aka Wimt) 20:08, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
Adding to AIV HelperBot's block notice in edit summaries
As we already know
- AO is (anonymous users only)
- ABD is (autoblock disabled)
- ACB is (account creation blocked)
So theoretically, some users might "earn the privilege" to be tagged in the edit summary as
- final is (account creation blocked, e-mail blocked, cannot edit own talk page)
Bot no longer helping out an WP:UAA
It seems this bot has stopped helping out with removing blocked users and so forth from UAA. Wondering if this was deliberate or an error of some kind. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:00, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for letting me know. It wasn't intentional -- the header was broken in this edit so the bots stopped editing the page. The {{adminbacklog}} needs to be replaced with {{noadminbacklog}} rather than removed, though really people are best leaving that to the bot unless they are sure they know what they are doing! I should hopefully have fixed it now. Cheers. Will (aka Wimt) 20:37, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
- Aha, well now I'll know what to look for if it happens again. Thanks! Beeblebrox (talk) 00:38, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- No problem! Yeah, that's the most common cause of all the bots stopping editing one particular page. Just resetting the header back to what it was when they were last working should do the trick. Will (aka Wimt) 18:31, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- I tried that, copying over the header from before the bot last worked and... I am still manually removing edits. Did I, when I looked over the bots page, hit any stop button (I know I didn't click the big red one, but I was clicking links)? LessHeard vanU (talk) 21:05, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- Working now - I guess that I had to write on this page that it wasn't working before it activated... LessHeard vanU (talk) 21:35, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- The secret magic ingredient! The stop mechanisms are either the big red button to block the bot or to remove the header on the individual page -- there's nothing more to trip over. Will (aka Wimt) 00:07, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
